At Veterinary Emergency + Referral Center of Hawaii (VERC), you'll do more than practice. You'll grow, collaborate, and help shape what's possible in veterinary medicine.
VERC is an advanced 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital with a dynamic and growing team of board certified specialists and highly trained emergency professionals. You'll work alongside specialists in critical care, internal medicine, neurology, surgery, oncology, and radiology, as well as experienced emergency veterinarians, in a collaborative environment focused on exceptional patient care.
VERC's newly built 17,250 square foot facility features a dedicated ICU and advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, 128 slice CT, the state's first veterinary MRI, fluoroscopy, an in-house laboratory, VCM Vet Analyzer, high flow nasal oxygen, an internal blood bank, and telemetry. The hospital also has two VTS ECC team members on staff.

In Your Day to Day, You Will
• Manage high-acuity emergency and ICU patients, including triage and stabilization
• Lead or participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to protocol development
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate closely with specialists, emergency veterinarians, technicians, and support teams
• Provide advanced critical care therapies, including high flow nasal oxygen and other therapies based on patient needs and available equipment
• Support and participate in internal blood bank services and other critical care initiatives
• Provide technician training and mentorship to support continued growth and development of the ECC team
• Provide clinical support to other departments throughout the hospital
• Engage in ongoing continuing education and mentorship opportunities, including POCUS and echocardiography training
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations
• Contribute to a positive, team focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning
What You Bring
• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure
• Board Certification in Emergency and Critical Care or residency training in Emergency and Critical Care
• Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client centered approach
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care
• A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, and advancing specialty medicine
• Motivation and energy to contribute to a growing critical care service and multidisciplinary hospital environment
