Description

The district is accepting immediate applications for a Special Education Teacher to serve students in grades P - 6, with priority given to applications that evidence professional training and personal commitment to the whole range of primary learner.    

It is the intention of the district to employ for the purpose of providing resource room services to students in grades P-6, consultative services to classroom teachers, informed input on MDT teams, and guidance assistance to families of handicapped children.  It is desired that the person employed in this position assist in the coordination of all special education programs.  Skills required in addition to teaching include organization and maintenance of materials, referral forms, data and records.

Requirements

Endorsements and/or experience with emphasis in learning disabilities, behavior management, inclusion teaching, and learning theory are preferred.  Workshops in reading instruction, writing, direct instruction, cooperative learning, cognitive development, and problem solving will also be weighted in the screening.
