Description
OverviewBlackHorse Golf Club is seeking dependable, guest-focused Range Attendants to support daily practice facility and golf operations across our 36-hole property. This is a fast-paced, hospitality-driven role and often the first point of contact a golfer has with the Club - a great entry point for anyone interested in the golf industry.
Attendants keep the practice facility stocked, clean, and ready from the first player of the morning through the last ball hit at dusk, and support the golf shop and outside operations teams during tournaments, clinics, and peak play.
Experience Required
- Strong guest service skills
- Working knowledge of the rules and etiquette of golf preferred
- Ability to learn and enforce Club policies, rules, and regulations
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills
- Dependable, with regular and reliable attendance
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic math skills
- Valid driver's license preferred for operating utility and picking equipment
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Open the practice facility each morning - set hitting stations, rotate mats and turf, position targets, and confirm the range is ready before the first player arrives.
- Collect, wash, and restock range balls throughout the day, keeping the dispenser and ball stations full during peak periods.
- Operate the range picker and utility vehicles safely, staying aware of players on the tee line and adjacent play at all times.
- Maintain rental and demo clubs, keeping racks orderly, clean, and complete.
- Set up and break down the short game area, practice green, and bunker, including tending flagsticks, rakes, and alignment aids.
- Keep the practice facility, clubhouse exterior, restrooms, trash and recycling receptacles, and water and hydration stations clean, stocked, and orderly.
- Support Player Development programming - set up for clinics, junior programs, group lessons, and instruction as directed.
- Prepare the range for tournaments and events, including the Club Championship, Member-Guest, outings, and corporate golf, with pre-set warm-up stations and staged range balls.
- Work closely with golf shop and outside operations staff to prepare for daily golf operations, and assist with bag drop, cart staging, and cart cleaning as needed.
- Greet Members and guests warmly, answer basic questions about the facility, and direct golfers to the golf shop for tee times, merchandise, and instruction.
- Implement and support all Club policies and programs as communicated by management.
- Maintain a clean and neat appearance and adhere to the uniform and dress standards set by the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional.
- Close the practice facility at the end of the day - final pick, secure equipment, and complete end-of-day checklists.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional, or designated supervisor.
Work is performed primarily outdoors in Southeast Texas heat, humidity, and variable weather. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, bend and kneel repeatedly, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and safely operate a golf cart, utility vehicle, and range picking equipment.
