Description
OverviewThe PGA Golf Intern works closely with the Professional Staff and is responsible for assisting in the general operation and oversight of daily golf operations to provide superior and courteous professional service to the members and guests of Shooting Star.
Experience Required
- High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior experience working at similar golf facilities - private, public, or resort.
- Ability to play golf.
- Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess the ability to interact with members and staff on all levels in a professional, positive, and friendly manner.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays is essential. Flexible to work varying schedules is critical to the success of this position.
Essential Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES OR FUNCTIONS:
- To provide world class service to our Membership and their Guests at all times.
- Carry self in a highly professional demeanor, be adaptable, flexible and adhere to a strict level of confidentiality.
- Communicate with various departments (i.e. Reception, Food and Beverage, Valet, Golf, Tennis, Spa) to create a seamless experience for the membership and their guests while at the Club.
- Cohesively work with team of Professional Staff members and Interns to direct daily play for membership and their guests.
- Maintain an orderly tee sheet and pace of play on the Golf Course daily.
- Maintain a presentable practice facility.
- Assist Merchandise Manager in all aspects of inventory control, product display, sales, and special orders.
- Gain complete proficiency with the Club's website program and Golf Genius Software.
- Effectively organize, promote, and execute various events and tournaments.
- Lead by example amongst your co-workers.
- Maintain a high level of professional appearance; affix an image of self and staff.
- Maintain contact with members and help assure maximum membership satisfaction.
- Promote teamwork, spirit, courtesy and friendliness among members and employees.
- Assist members by providing and interpreting policies, rules, and regulations.
SECONDARY DUTIES OR FUNCTIONS:
- Professionally conduct junior golf clinics within instructional guidelines set forth by Director of Golf.
- In conjunction with the Professional Staff, manage an orderly lesson book for all instructors.
- Be knowledgeable about industry trends and products.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Perform bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing.
- Walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping.
- Verbal and listening ability.
- Requires ability to visually observe the condition of surroundings.
- Ability to work in inclement weather working conditions at times.
- Driving skills.
