ABOUT GOWANDA COUNTRY CLUB

Gowanda Country Club is a member-focused private golf club in Western New York. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and service-oriented Head PGA Professional to lead and grow our golf operation. This is an opportunity for a PGA Professional to become a visible leader within the Club while building strong, lasting relationships with members and families.
THE OPPORTUNITY

The Head PGA Professional is responsible for the overall management of the Club's golf department and serves as the primary professional representative for golf operations. The successful candidate will combine PGA professionalism, outstanding member service, staff leadership, sound business judgment, and a commitment to growing the game.

Experience Required

Required

• PGA Professional membership or appropriate PGA credentials.
• Demonstrated golf-operations experience and strong knowledge of the Rules of Golf.
• Excellent communication, customer-service, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Experience supervising employees and managing budgets.
• Ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors, committees, members, and staff.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays during the golf season.

Preferred

• Previous Head Golf Professional experience, particularly at a private/member-owned club.
• Golf-shop merchandising, tournament administration, instruction, and junior-program experience.

Essential Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Golf Operations & Member Service

• Lead day-to-day golf department and golf-shop operations, including tee times, pace of play, carts, and outside services.
• Provide exceptional professional service to members and guests and respond effectively to golf-related concerns.
• Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent on course setup, tournaments, maintenance schedules, and playing conditions.

Tournaments, Instruction & Junior Golf

• Plan and administer the annual tournament calendar, club championships, leagues, and approved outings.
• Provide individual and group instruction and develop clinics and player-development programs.
• Build and promote a strong junior golf program for children and families.

Golf Shop & Business Management

• Manage merchandise selection, purchasing, pricing, inventory, promotions, and member special orders.
• Prepare and manage the annual golf department budget and monitor revenue and expenses.
• Identify opportunities to increase participation, revenue, and member value while maintaining financial controls.

Staff Leadership

• Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate golf department employees.
• Maintain staffing levels appropriate to seasonal demands and establish high standards for professionalism and service.

BOARD & COMMITTEE RELATIONSHIP

The Head PGA Professional will work closely with the Board of Directors and Golf Committee and provide regular updates on operations, tournaments, staffing, instruction, merchandise, finances, member participation, and future golf initiatives.

• Golf, Grounds, House, Finance, Membership, and Long-Range Planning Committees
• Golf Course Superintendent, Club management, and staff
