About Train 2 Xcel
Founded in 2015 by Mark Bubeck and Loic Descotures in Ridgefield, Connecticut, Train 2 Xcel was built on a shared passion for fitness, performance, and helping people reach their full potential.
Our mission is simple: Inspire and motivate people to become the best possible version of themselves—to upgrade lives daily!
We believe everybody is an athlete, and every individual deserves a training experience designed around their unique goals, needs, and abilities.
Train 2 Xcel offers customized personal training in a professional, welcoming, and fun environment. Our semi-private coaching model allows coaches to work with up to four clients per hour, each following their own individualized training program. We also offer dynamic metabolic group training classes that combine challenging workouts with hands-on coaching and support.
What sets us apart is our commitment to doing training differently. We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we focus on individualized programming, meaningful relationships, continuous improvement, and an exceptional client experience.
About the Position
We are looking for an energetic, motivated, and personable Fitness Coach who is passionate about helping others succeed. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in the fitness industry, continue developing their coaching skills, and grow with a fast-paced, forward-thinking company.
As a Train 2 Xcel Coach, you will supervise and coach multiple clients simultaneously while delivering a highly personalized training experience. You'll help clients work toward their goals, provide ongoing feedback, adjust their programs as needed, and create an environment where every person feels supported, challenged, and motivated.
The ideal candidate is a team player, an excellent communicator, and someone who brings positive energy to every session. We value coaches who are eager to learn, receptive to feedback, committed to professional development, and passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
We're looking for someone who sees fitness as a career, not just a job.
Key Responsibilities
Coach and motivate clients: Supervise and directly coach one to four clients at a time, ensuring each person follows their individualized training program with proper technique, appropriate modifications, and effective coaching.
Deliver personalized programming: Review and update client programs regularly based on progress, performance, feedback, and changing goals.
Create an exceptional client experience: Build meaningful relationships, communicate effectively, and make every client feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged.
Conduct daily readiness checks: Assess how clients are feeling and adjust training sessions appropriately to support safe, effective, and productive workouts.
Support nutrition goals: Learn and communicate Train 2 Xcel's nutritional recommendations, providing appropriate guidance and feedback within the scope of your role.
Maintain a professional training environment: Arrive prepared for every session, keep equipment and high-use areas clean and organized, and follow gym safety standards.
Collaborate with the coaching team: Give and receive constructive feedback, share insights, and work together to continuously improve the client experience.
Commit to personal development: Participate in ongoing education, stay current with industry best practices, and continually improve your coaching abilities.
Lead by example: Follow your own customized training program three times per week and maintain an active membership at Train 2 Xcel.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Current certification from a nationally accredited personal training or strength and conditioning organization, such as CFSC, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, or an equivalent recognized certification.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to coach multiple clients while maintaining an individualized approach.
A positive attitude, professional demeanor, and genuine passion for helping people.
The ability to give and receive feedback constructively.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team.
The ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including moving equipment and lifting weights of 45 pounds or more when necessary.
Preferred:
One to two years of experience in personal training, strength and conditioning, or a related fitness setting.
Familiarity with Mike Boyle's training methodology (CFSC certification preferred) and Functional Movement Systems.
An associate or bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field.
Experience delivering exceptional customer service in a client-focused environment.
An interest in continued education, evidence-based training, and professional growth.
Just as important as your credentials: We look for coaches who are genuinely nice people, bring positive energy to the gym, and care about the success of every client.
