MANAGING ATTORNEY
Domestic Relations/Immigration Unit
DESCRIPTION: Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. (SALA) is hiring a Managing Attorney to work in its Tucson Office supervising Domestic Relations and Immigration Practice Groups. SALA provides free civil legal services to low-income clients in nine counties and eleven Tribal Reservations. SALA’s Domestic Relations and Immigration Practice Groups provide legal services to victims of domestic violence and immigrants under the Violence Against Women Act. The Managing Attorney supervises Domestic Relations and Immigration Practice Group staff, law students, and volunteers; oversee Practice Group operations, case assignments, grant reporting as well as the maintenance of relationships with agency partners. The Manager may be asked to perform any other duties as requested or assigned by the Executive Director or his/her designee.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Applicants must have at least five years of legal experience and be a member of the Arizona Bar or pass the next exam; applicants licensed for two years in another jurisdiction may practice by special rule. Criminal background check required.
2. Applicants must exhibit a high degree of sensitivity to the problems of the low-income community and should be able to work with low-income and community groups. They should have initiative, good communication skills and the ability to work well in a multi-cultural setting.
3. Applicants should be knowledgeable in general civil practice on behalf of the low-income community and specifically in the areas of family law and/or immigration experience.
COMPENSATION: Salary range $70,678.00 - $105,000.00 DOE; up to five percent additional compensation to individuals fluent in Spanish. Payment of bar exam and admission fees for those not yet admitted. Student loan repayment assistance. Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibility.
