Description
The Engineering Program Manager (EPM) for Filter NTI is responsible for end-to-end execution of complex filter NTI programs, from concept and feasibility through release readiness. This role serves as the single-threaded owner for schedule, cost (NRE), risk, and cross-functional alignment across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and customer-facing teams.
This role requires deep, disciplined program execution, and the ability to drive clarity in highly ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Manages people who lead cross-functional teams that are focused on the delivery of a product or computer-based system from design to release for customers. Develops, defines and executes project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables. Identifies needed resources for projects, defines and assigns major project roles. Monitors the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed. Assigns and monitors work of project/program management staff, providing technical support and direction. This position is most common in a matrix type organization, where the position does not have true responsibility over product development but does have overall product/program/ project management responsibility, i.e. coordinating efforts leading to product release. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Key Responsibilities
1. NTI Program Ownership & Execution
Own end-to-end NTI program execution including scope definition, baseline planning, and phase-gate readiness.
Develop and maintain the Plan of Record (POR) covering schedule, milestones, resources, dependencies, and deliverables.
Drive end to end program execution ensuring disciplined execution and on-time delivery.
2. Cross-Functional Leadership
Act as the primary integrator across Acoustics Engineering, Process Technology, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and external partners (if needed).
Lead cross-functional reviews, resolve technical and execution tradeoffs, and drive alignment across geographically distributed teams.
Serve as the single point of accountability for program status, risk, and recovery actions.
3. Schedule & Milestone Management
Develop detailed phase-based schedules with critical path analysis and clear milestone ownership.
Track planned vs. actual performance, identifying schedule deviations early, and drive recovery plans.
Manage customer-aligned milestones with zero-surprise execution.
4. NRE Cost & Resource Management
Partner with Finance and Engineering leadership to ensure cost discipline without compromising technical integrity.
Own NTI NRE forecasting and cost tracking, including wafer, mask, probe, and engineering labor costs.
Monitor NRE burn vs. progress, proactively identify variances, and drive cost containment actions.
5. Risk, Quality & Readiness Management
Identify, track, and mitigate design, manufacturing, and quality risks across all NTI phases.
Drive disciplined risk management practices including risk registers, mitigation plans, and readiness assessments.
Ensure NTI programs meet quality, yield, and reliability expectations prior to phase exits.
6. Executive Communication & Governance
Provide clear, concise, and data-driven program updates to senior leadership
Escalate issues with well-defined options, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
Continuously improve program management processes, metrics, and governance models to drive NTI excellence.
Required Experience and Skills
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering program or project management within semiconductors, RF, or hardware NPI / NTI environments.
- Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional NTI/NPI programs from concept to production.
- Strong technical depth enabling effective engagement with design, process, and manufacturing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage schedule, cost, and risk simultaneously in a matrixed organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with acoustic filters (SAW/BAW) or RF front-end technologies.
- Experience working with global manufacturing partners and external foundries.
- PMP or equivalent program management certification.
- Track record of driving program governance, KPI dashboards, and continuous improvement.
- Experience operating in customer-committed NTI environments with aggressive timelines.
