Canberra, ACT | Up to $130,000 + 12% Super Please note: Due to the nature of this position and the requirement to provide advice on Australian employment legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements, only candidates with demonstrated Australian HR experience will be considered.Drive People Strategy in a Growing OrganisationAn exciting opportunity exists for an experienced HR Business Partner to join a growing Australian organisation and partner closely with operational leaders across multiple business units.
This role is focused on building leadership capability, providing expert employee relations advice, influencing workforce strategy, and helping leaders navigate complex people challenges in a dynamic operational environment. The position supports managers and employees across a broad range of people matters while contributing to the continued growth and maturity of the organisation's People & Culture function.
Unlike many HR roles, this opportunity is not focused on recruitment, WHS, return to work or learning and development. Dedicated specialists manage these functions, allowing you to focus on strategic partnering, employee relations, workforce planning and leadership coaching.
Your New Role
As a trusted advisor to leaders, you will provide practical and commercially focused HR support across a range of people-related matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with leaders to provide expert advice across the employee life cycle.
- Coaching managers through performance management, misconduct, grievances, workplace complaints and disciplinary matters.
- Interpreting and applying employment legislation, Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements, policies and workplace obligations.
- Supporting workforce planning, succession planning and organisational growth initiatives.
- Contributing to Enterprise Agreement preparation, consultation and implementation activities.
- Developing, reviewing and improving HR policies, procedures and frameworks.
- Supporting organisational change and helping leaders build high-performing teams.
- Identifying opportunities to improve people processes, systems and the overall manager experience.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience as an HR Business Partner, Senior HR Advisor or similar role.
- Strong employee relations and industrial relations capability.
- Proven experience coaching leaders through challenging and complex people matters.
- Excellent influencing, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
- Experience supporting organisational change and business growth.
- The resilience and confidence to work with leaders and operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline.
- AHRI membership will be highly regarded.
- Exposure to workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
- Experience participating in Enterprise Agreement negotiations or implementation activities.
- Exposure to industrial relations matters involving employee representatives or unions.
