Description
OverviewHerons Glen Golf & Country Club is seeking an energetic, service-oriented, and highly organized PGA Head Golf Professional to join our dynamic team and oversee the daily golf operations at our exceptional s emi-private golf facility. This leadership position is responsible for delivering exceptional golf experiences for members and guests while managing golf operations, tournaments, merchandising, staff development, and customer service.
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for growing the game of golf while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
Experience Required
- Class A PGA of America Professional in good standing.
- Minimum of five years of progressive golf operations experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience at a semi-private, private, or high-volume daily fee facility preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Chelsea Tee Time Reservation System
- Golf Genius Tournament Software
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Handicap management systems
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Knowledge of USGA Rules of Golf and the World Handicap System.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours during the golf season.
Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations
- Oversee all daily golf operations, including tee sheet management, starting, pace of play, and player services.
- Manage all golf shop operations, including retail merchandising, inventory control, purchasing, and sales.
- Ensure exceptional service is provided to members, guests, leagues, and tournaments.
- Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent regarding course conditions and daily operations.
- Enforce USGA Rules of Golf and club policies in a fair and consistent manner.
Tournaments & Events
- Plan, organize, and execute tournaments, member events, leagues, and special golf outings.
- Create pairings, scoring, and reports utilizing Golf Genius Tournament Management Software.
- Develop creative golf programming to increase participation and member engagement.
Technology
- Demonstrate proficiency using the Chelsea Tee Time Reservation System for daily tee sheet management.
- Utilize Golf Genius for tournaments, leagues, scoring, live leaderboards, and event administration.
- Maintain accurate handicap records and ensure compliance with the World Handicap System.
Leadership
- Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate Assistant Golf Professionals, inside/outside services staff, starters, and rangers.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment emphasizing professionalism and exceptional customer service.
- Conduct regular staff training focused on service standards, pace of play, and member satisfaction.
Member & Guest Relations
- Build positive relationships with members and guests through outstanding communication and visibility.
- Address concerns promptly and professionally, and promote an atmosphere that is welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels.
Instruction
- Provide individual and group golf instruction, and conduct clinics, junior golf programs, ladies' golf programs, and beginner instruction.
- Promote player development and increased participation.
Membership Development & Member Relations
- Serve as a knowledgeable ambassador for Herons Glen Golf & Country Club by assisting prospective golf members with inquiries regarding membership options, privileges, and club amenities.
- Conduct individual tours and membership orientations for new golf members as needed, ensuring a welcoming and informative onboarding experience.
- Follow up with prospective members to answer questions and assist them through the membership process.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and administrative staff to support membership recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives.
- Train and mentor golf shop staff to effectively explain membership offerings, greet prospective members, and conduct new member orientations when appropriate.
Financial Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and managing the annual golf operations budget, including daily fee pricing strategies.
- Monitor golf shop revenues and tournament profitability.
- Recommend strategies to increase rounds, retail sales, and instructional revenue.
