Exciting opportunities are available for qualified Gastroenterologists (or General Physicians with a subspecialty interest in Gastroenterology) who want to make a positive impact while working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, and supportive team. Positions for Gastroenterologists are immediately available across New Zealand.
We are looking for clinicians who are passionate about delivering quality care to our patients.
To work as a Gastroenterologist (Senior Medical Officer) in New Zealand, you must become registered to practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Practitioners need to meet competency standards and hold Annual Practising Certificates (APCs) to work safely and effectively. Senior Medical Officers are on Tier 1 of New Zealand's Green List, which means you are eligible for the Straight to Residence Visa and can apply for New Zealand residency before you arrive.

Salary, benefits and leave
Salary:
- The average salary package for Gastroenterologists in New Zealand is GBP ~£149,290 (NZD $343,500)
- Packages are comprised of a base salary based on experience, plus allowances, and superannuation per the ASMS collective agreement
Benefits:
- GBP ~£7,310 (NZD $18,000) annual continuing medical education (CME) allowance
- Paid 3-month sabbaticals every 6 years
- Indemnity insurance covered by Health NZ for public practice
- Annual practising certificate, vocational registration fees, college memberships and approved professional subscriptions fully reimbursed
- Complimentary visa and immigration support

Leave:
- 6 weeks annual leave
- Generous sick leave provisions
- 12 public holidays plus time in lieu when worked
- 14 weeks paid parental leave alongside the Government's paid parental leave provisions
- 2 weeks paid long service leave after every 10 years of continuous service
