Description
The School of Economics at Zhejiang University (ZJU) invites applications for tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level or above, with an expected start date in 2027. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Economics or a related field by the time of appointment. We are especially interested in candidates whose research relates to Chinese Economy, AI + Economics, Finance, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Econometrics, Public Finance and Taxation, International Trade and Industrial Organization. Strong candidates from other fields are also welcomed to apply. Candidates with relevant work experience and a solid publication record are preferred.
The economics discipline at ZJU, inheriting the academic legacy of Qiushi Academy, was first established in 1929 as one of the earliest economics departments in China's institutions of higher education. After nearly a century of development, the School of Economics, ZJU has gradually evolved into a research-oriented and innovative institution with a solid academic foundation, distinctive strengths, and broad influence both domestically and internationally.
The School currently comprises 5 academic departments: the Department of Economics, the Department of Finance, the Department of International Economics and Trade, the Department of Labor Economics, and the Department of Public Finance. Focusing on national strategies for regional development, the School has built high-level platforms for academic research and think-tank services. It actively undertakes major national research projects and national high-end think-tank projects, and has developed strong academic reputation across fields including the private economy and socialist economic theory with Chinese characteristics, open economy and development, digital economy and macroeconomics, human capital and economic development, artificial intelligence and econometrics, macro-finance and digital finance, digital trade and green development, and digital public finance and government governance. It is ranked 21st for Economics and Business by U.S. News (2026) and 38th for Business and Economics by Times Higher Education (2026).

Requirements
- A strong academic record with a Ph.D. in Economics or a related field.
- Demonstrated research capability, with an expectation to publish at least two papers in internationally recognized journals
- Ability to secure national-level research funding
- Willingness to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
