Description
Freelance Careers Adviser L6 (In-Person | Ad-Hoc)
Location: London | Surrey | Bedfordshire
Looking for high-impact careers work with a team that values your expertise?
At EC Careers, we’ve been delivering expert CEIAG for over 20 years. While we have a long history, we are focused firmly on the future. Our team of over 20 experienced advisers understands that the world of work is changing rapidly—we don't just give advice; we help young people build the motivation, focus, and agility they need to thrive in a 21st-century economy.
We are now looking for dynamic, forward-thinking Freelance Careers Advisers to join our pool of experts.
Why We’re Different (The Perks)
We know the freelance life can be a juggle, so we’ve built a partnership that respects your time and talent:
Fast Financial Turnaround: No 30-day wait. We pay within one week of your invoice.
Competitive Day Rate: £210 per day plus up to £20 travel expenses.
The "Flow" of Work: Perfect for those who love variety. This is ad-hoc, in-person work that mirrors the academic year—busy peaks and quiet windows to allow you to recharge or focus on other projects.
Progressive & Supportive: You’ll work with a management team that is relatable and supportive—always a phone call away—and who are all L6 Careers Advisers too.
The Future-Focused Role
This role is for in-person delivery (Years 9–13). You’ll be on the ground in schools, making a tangible impact through:
High-Impact 1-to-1s: Using a narrative, client-centred approach to help students navigate a complex future.
Actionable Insights: Constructing detailed Career Action Plans with SMART targets that mean something to the student, although we work with many schools who have different approaches. Sometimes students are asked to write their own action plan!
Expert LMI: Using your deep knowledge of the Labour Market to inspire students about careers that might not even exist yet.
Professional Growth: We value your expertise. While we are here to support you, we respect your professional autonomy to deliver high-impact guidance.
Who You Are
Qualified: Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance (or equivalent/working towards).
Engaging: Someone who can quickly build rapport with a diverse range of students and who is passionate about the motivation and mindset of young people.
Organised: A pro at managing your own schedule and someone who stays professional at all times, ensuring you deliver high-quality and personal careers guidance meetings and maintain excellent relationships with our partner schools.
Insight-Driven: You enjoy using specialist career platforms and psychometric tools (like Morrisby and Unifrog) to gain a deeper understanding of a student. You’ll use these insights to go beyond traditional advice, helping young people uncover hidden strengths and map out career paths tailored to their unique potential-- training provided to bring you up to speed!
Mobile: Ready to travel to schools within London, Surrey, or Bedfordshire, but we will always check what travel times you are comfortable with, of course!
How to Apply
We’re looking for the right people to start this September. Instead of a formal interview process, we prefer to have an exploratory conversation or an informal coffee (virtual or in-person) with shortlisted applicants to see if our values align.
We move quickly—once we’ve found the right people to join the mission, the vacancy will close.
