Description
Foundry Foreman - $85,000 to $110,000 Annually Negotiable
Diamond Casting is a manufacturer of precision aluminum and zinc components for all segments of American industry.
We have a fully equipped Foundry, including a sand core station, three permanent mold stations, and 16 die cast machines of 400-ton, 600-ton and 900-ton capacities, each with a dedicated trim press, operating on both first and second shifts.
We also have a Machining Department with 35 CNC machining centers operating on two shifts, as well as a number of other production and processing departments.
Diamond Casting has been owned and managed by the same family for 55 years, with exceptionally long service in our department leadership roles. An important part of what attracts and retains these exceptional Leaders is that our Department Heads have working roles, not desk jobs.
Most of our longest-serving department leaders are now retiring, which has created opportunities for the next generation of Leaders.
One of the remaining open Leadership positions is Foreman of the Foundry.
We are particularly interested in an experienced die casting professional who has become exceptionally good at setting up die cast machines, getting difficult jobs into production, and troubleshooting casting quality problems, and who believes they are ready to take the next step into Leadership.
In addition to managing approximately 15 team members, the Foundry Foreman will spend much of the first shift doing important hands-on technical work: troubleshooting casting and production issues, identifying and correcting the causes of poorly produced castings, and breaking down and setting up the next tools to be put into production.
This is not a position where an excellent set-up person is promoted into an office and stops doing what made them excellent. We expect our Foreman to remain directly involved in the most important and challenging work in the Foundry. Depending upon the needs of the individual we hire, a helper may be assigned so the Foreman can remain focused on the higher-skill setup, troubleshooting, quality and Leadership responsibilities.
For someone who has developed strong die casting setup and troubleshooting skills and believes they have the ability to lead others, this is an opportunity to move into a genuine Leadership position without giving up the hands-on technical work they enjoy and do exceptionally well.
