OverviewEstablished in 1975, Suntree's history is woven with moments of pride-from hosting some of the greats, such as Arnold Palmer & Sam Snead during the PGA Senior Tour in the late '80s and early '90s, to the extraordinary unity of our members who joined together in 1991 to purchase the Club from Fairfield developers. Suntree Country Club is dedicated to providing its members an exceptional full service private club experience featuring two superb 18-hole golf courses, superior racquets facilities and programs, excellent recreational and social activities and enviable dining experiences.
The First Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for assisting the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf with managing and overseeing all elements of the club's golf-related activities resulting in an exceptional overall golf experience for club members and their guests. Also, provides top quality individual and group instruction to membership and guests. The ideal candidate will show progression within their career with the goal to move on to a Head Professional position within three to four years.
Experience Required
3+ years at a private facility
PGA Member or Level 3 Apprentice preferred
Essential Responsibilities
• Oversees the Second Assistant Golf Professional to ensure day-to-day activities in the driving range and bag room area are consistent with club policy.
• Assists the Second Assistant Professional with recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of the outside services staff and starters.
• Assist the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf with the evaluation of the golf staff.
• Monitors and walks the range to provide member assistance and ensures range standards.
• Provides quality private lesson and group clinics.
• Provides golf instruction for the summer camps and Operation 36 programming.
• Assists the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf with managing all aspects of the golf program.
• Provides and interprets golf policies, rules and regulations.
• Assumes the Head Golf Professional's duties in his absence.
• Provides membership with club fitting and club repair services.
• Assists in the coordination of tournaments and special events
• Focusing on:
• Entry of players/teams into tournament management software
• Golf Cart staging
• Range setup
• Monitors golf course to ensure pace of play is adequate and golf shop charge sheets are accurate.
• Maintains an attractive, orderly appearance in and around the pro shop, practice facilities and other golf related areas to create a high-quality environment.
• Devotes a considerable amount of time to play golf with members of all skill levels.
• Maintains playing ability and works to stay competent in all areas of their game.
• Represents the CCC in area professional events with the approval of the Head Golf Professional.
• Interprets and enforces the club's rules and regulations and also ensures the outside staff is familiar with and enforces these rules.
• Consults with Head Golf Professional about course and range operations, maintenance and rules.
• Ensures that all staff are presentable, well-groomed and in established uniforms always.
• Follows directives and completes assignments with minimal supervision.
• Works under the general supervision and direction of the Head Golf Professional. Directs any employment, personnel and operational concerns to the Head Professional and not to any club officer, director, or committee member.
• Always maintains a friendly hospitable and helpful attitude with all members, guests and fellow employees.
