Washington State Transit Insurance Pool (WSTIP) is recruiting for a Claims Specialist 2. The position works in the claims department of a public entity risk pool and provides claims handling, management, oversight, direction, support, and administration. Work is performed following established procedures, policies, and general directions. EMPLOYEE TO WORK PRIMARILY FROM A HOME OFFICE (SEE HYBRID WORK SECTION OF JOB POSTING).
EMPLOYEE MUST RESIDE IN WASHINGTON STATE.
Regarding Hybrid Work. To learn the role and develop team cohesion, we expect new hires to receive up to 15 days of in-person training in Olympia, WA during their first six months of employment. Generally, this is scheduled in three-day blocks of time with the first three-day block aligning with one’s start date. Upon request, hotel arrangements for these sessions are available.
HYBRID WORK
WSTIP strives to be creative and flexible in alternative work design, including offering hybrid work options in the form of telecommute and telework program. In a telecommuting arrangement, an employee is assigned workspace in the WSTIP office and, with approval, works one or more days each work week from a home office. In a telework arrangement, an employee utilizes a home office for the majority of their work. Employees that have telework arrangements will still need to come to the office from time to time, but an employee with a telework arrangement will have no designated workspace at the WSTIP office.
Generally, our workdays are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. To learn the role and develop team cohesion, we expect new hires to receive up to 15 days of in-person training in Olympia, WA during their first six months of employment. The position also requires occasional overnight travel to meetings with WSTIP Members, WSTIP Staff, Board meetings, and/or for professional development. At the approved government rate of travel, WSTIP will reimburse the cost.
Requirements
Required: Four years of work experience in a professional and/or academic environment. High school diploma or GED. Possession of Washington State driver’s license. Ability to learn and utilize WSTIP’s Risk Management Information System (RMIS, currently Origami Risk). Demonstrated ability to coordinate daily activities to meet schedules/deadlines and complete assigned tasks. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Desired: Two years of experience in one or a combination of the following; auto liability claims, and/or property insurance claims adjusting, the legal field, insurance, risk management, or medical fields, and subrogation techniques and procedures.
Preferred: Adjuster, Legal, Paralegal certification or Risk Management or Insurance accreditation.
