Description
Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC) is recruiting for a full-time (35 hours per week) Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead ALSC’s overall financial strategy and performance including budget management, fiscal/grant compliance and oversight, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, day-to-day fiscal issues, and supervision of the Accounting Team. ALSC is funded by federal, state, and local governments; tribal organizations; and foundations and private giving. The CFO works closely with ALSC’s Executive Director and leadership team in financial goal setting, evaluating short and long-term strategic financial objectives, advising the Executive Director and ALSC Board on financial and budgeting matters, as well as providing guidance to staff with responsibility for grants and contract management. Through the development and maintenance of robust financial systems, and full compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable government regulations, and grant requirements, the CFO upholds the highest standards of accuracy and transparency in financial reporting.
Requirements
Required: Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience plus a minimum of Five (5) years of experience to include A/P, A/R, Payroll, General Ledger, Cost Allocations, Budgeting, Forecasting and Audit Management; Previous supervisory and management experience; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders; Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; Computer proficiency (Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Internet, e-mail and data entry) with advanced knowledge of preparation of financial statements and financial reports, payroll systems and reporting.
Highly desired: The ideal candidate is credentialed as a CPA or CMA with at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management; previous experience in a legal aid or other non-profit setting, working with diverse populations; proven track record of managing multiple grants and funding sources with multiple locations/offices.
