Davis Law Firm is a boutique law firm with a growing practice specializing in business and insurance coverage litigation. We've recently renovated a historic building in downtown Jacksonville, Florida into a modern, collaborative workspace featuring state-of-the-art equipment, a coffee bar, gaming area with classic arcade games, fully stocked kitchen and sports bar, and dedicated office space for each attorney.
Position Overview
We are seeking Associate Attorneys with 0-5 years of litigation experience to join our business and insurance coverage litigation department. Whether you're a recent law school graduate, newly licensed attorney, or an attorney looking to advance your career, this is an excellent opportunity to work on meaningful matters with mentorship and exposure to complex litigation.
In this position, you will work on a variety of cases, with a focus on insurance coverage cases, many involving underlying construction defect lawsuits. You'll gain hands-on experience in:
- Drafting detailed motions and legal opinions
- Attending depositions and mediations
- Developing legal writing and research skills
- Working collaboratively with experienced attorneys
- Understanding the nuances of insurance coverage law
What Your Day Looks Like
- Your typical responsibilities will include:
- Drafting legal briefs and motions for the Court
- Preparing written opinions and analysis for clients
- Attending depositions and mediations
- Conducting legal research and case analysis
- Collaborating with senior attorneys and peers
Most cases are resolved through summary judgment and "on the papers" proceedings rather than trial. This means when you do appear in court (typically once or twice a month), you'll be extremely prepared and have conducted thorough legal analysis. Your attention to detail in legal writing will be critical, as these documents often serve as your primary interaction with the Court.
Professional Development
For newer attorneys, rather than overwhelming you with complex cases immediately, we systematically guide attorneys through insurance coverage litigation alongside experienced mentors. You'll build your skills progressively, with clear direction and support at every stage—ensuring you develop the confidence and competence needed to succeed. Attorneys with more experience will find opportunities to expand their expertise in insurance coverage law while contributing meaningfully to firm matters from day one.

Competitive Compensation:
- Starting Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
- Entry-Level (0 years experience): $100,000 - $110,000
- Performance Bonuses: Minimum $1,000/month for meeting billable hour requirements, plus year-end bonuses
- Clerkship Bonuses: Special starting bonuses and pay increases for federal MDFL and Eleventh Circuit law clerks

Requirements
Ideal Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree
- Florida Bar License (or pending)
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills
- Proficiency in legal research
- Genuine willingness to learn new areas of law
- Collaborative mindset and positive attitude
- Commitment to professional development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Law Review or similar legal publication experience
- Federal judicial clerkship
- Moot Court or Mock Trial experience
- Coursework in construction law or insurance law
- Prior litigation experience (1-5 years)
- Court and deposition experience
