- Assistant Principal - Middle School
Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist the principal in leading and managing the educational and supporting activities of
the staff & student body to provide a safe, engaging learning environment.
2. Lead and manage the school’s student management, attendance, and security to
maintain high standards of conduct and a school climate that results in all students
achieving at high levels.
3. Assist the principal in planning, organizing, and implementing District-approved
instructional materials, assessment and staff development that are focused on
improving student achievement.
4. Assist the principal in leading the school community in the implementation and ongoing
assessment of the school improvement plan.
5. Lead and manage the school’s student activities and athletics’ programs to ensure
equity in opportunities that promote student excellence.
6. Initiate and foster positive relationships between the school, parents and community.
7. Supervise educational programs that provide for diverse student needs including basic
education, special education, Title I, and ELL needs.
8. Participate in recruiting, interviewing and recommending the appointment of outstanding
staff members who set high expectations for themselves and for all students.
9. Supervise and evaluate certificated and classified staff to maximize performance and
student achievement.
10. Ensure the safe, healthy condition of the school through the proper care and
safeguarding of school property, equipment and supplies.
11. Attend school-sponsored activities, special events and functions that support student
excellence.
12. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current Washington principal credential.
2. Master’s degree in education with an emphasis in educational administration or related
field.
3. At least five years successful experience as a secondary classroom teacher.
4. Demonstrated skills as an instructional leader.
5. Demonstrated leadership and knowledge of middle school programs, including
instructional supervision, curriculum management, student management and student
activities.
6. Successful leadership experience in the supervision of secondary school programs.
7. Biliterate in Spanish preferred.
