OverviewPosition Overview
We are seeking a passionate, motivated, and service-oriented applicant to join our team as an Assistant Golf Professional. This position is designed for an individual who wants to build a well-rounded career in the golf industry through hands-on experience in pro shop operations, customer service, academy operations, golf instruction, and player development.
The role will be divided between pro shop/academy operations and golf instruction, providing the successful candidate with a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to operate and grow a successful golf academy.
On the operations side, the Assistant Golf Professional will gain valuable experience in pro shop management, customer service, scheduling, retail operations, inventory, academy programming, events, and day-to-day facility operations.
On the coaching side, the Assistant Golf Professional will work alongside our experienced instructional team and receive ongoing mentorship and development in teaching methodology, lesson structure, junior development, adult instruction, player evaluation, use of technology, and competitive player development.
Our goal is to develop well-rounded golf professionals who are confident both in the golf shop and on the lesson tee. The position offers an opportunity to learn from an experienced professional team, take on increasing responsibility, and build the skills necessary for long-term success in the golf industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Split scheduled work time between pro shop/academy operations and golf instruction.
- Work scheduled pro shop shifts and assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service to students, families, members, and guests.
- Assist customers with golf merchandise, equipment, apparel, and general pro shop needs.
- Handle point-of-sale transactions, scheduling, registrations, and other daily shop responsibilities.
- Assist with inventory management, receiving, restocking, and maintaining merchandise displays.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the academy and help maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment.
- Assist with academy events, tournaments, clinics, camps, and special programs.
- Gain exposure to the business and operational aspects of running a successful golf academy.
- Provide individual and group golf instruction to juniors and adults based on experience and qualifications.
- Assist with junior programs, camps, clinics, and competitive player-development programs.
- Work alongside senior instructors to develop coaching skills, lesson structure, communication, and player-development strategies.
- Participate in ongoing coaching mentorship and professional development.
- Utilize technology and instructional tools to evaluate and develop players.
- Assist with player evaluations, lesson planning, and tracking player progress.
- Work collaboratively with the instructional and operations teams to deliver a consistent and high-quality experience.
- Take on increasing responsibilities as skills, experience, and knowledge develop.
- Represent Don Law Golf Academy professionally and contribute to the continued growth of the academy.
A key component of this position is professional development across both academy operations and golf instruction. The Assistant Golf Professional will have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced members of the Don Law Golf Academy team and develop skills across all areas of the golf profession.
Through mentorship, hands-on experience, and increasing responsibility, we will help the successful candidate develop their abilities as a golf professional, academy operator, and coach. This includes opportunities to learn best practices in pro shop operations, customer service, programming, scheduling, retail, events, instruction, junior development, player evaluation, and the day-to-day management of a successful golf academy.
The position is intended to provide a strong foundation for a long-term career in the golf industry and a pathway for continued growth within the academy.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is passionate about golf, enjoys working with people, and is eager to develop a career as a golf professional. They should be professional, dependable, energetic, and willing to learn.
Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills are important, along with the ability to work effectively in both a pro shop/operations environment and on the lesson tee.
Experience in pro shop operations, customer service, golf instruction, junior development, or tournament operations is preferred. PGA Associate or PGA Professional status is a plus.

- 2+ years of teaching experience preferred, but not required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ambitious and eager to grow within a supportive coaching environment
- PGA/LPGA Associate or pursuing membership is a plus
- Passion for teaching and making a positive impact on students

- Assist with academy events, tournaments, clinics, camps, and special programs.
- Support the professional staff with operational projects and initiatives.
- Develop an understanding of the business and operational aspects of running a successful golf academy.
- Provide individual and group golf instruction to juniors and adults based on experience, qualifications, and academy needs.
- Assist with junior programs, camps, clinics, and competitive player-development programs.
- Work alongside senior instructors to develop coaching skills, lesson structure, communication, and player-development strategies.
- Participate in ongoing coaching mentorship and professional development.
- Utilize golf technology and instructional tools to evaluate and develop players.
- Assist with player evaluations, lesson planning, and tracking player progress.
- Create a positive, engaging, and professional learning environment for students.
- Build strong relationships with students and families while providing a high level of service.
- Continue developing instructional knowledge and coaching skills through hands-on experience and mentorship.
