Our Academic Organization:
INSTITUTIONAL RESOURCES - Our Emergency Medicine physicians are faculty members of UMSOM, the first public medical school in the United States and one of the fastest-growing, top-tier biomedical research enterprises in the world. In 2026, the National Science Foundation ranked UMSOM as 14th among public medical schools.
Ambitious academic physicians will appreciate the variety of interdisciplinary support and opportunities UMSOM offers, as well as its innovative medical school curriculum, which includes a required Emergency Medicine clerkship for all medical students.
TEACHING - Our physicians are dedicated to educating residents and medical students every day—and ensuring their success as future physicians. From the classroom to the bedside, our clinical educators impart knowledge, teach skills, and equip learners with the leadership and clinical judgment necessary to diagnose illnesses and treat patients in some of the most complex, high-stakes environments in medicine.
Whether leading a small group workshop or presenting at grand rounds, faculty physicians are empowered to teach—and do so much more. Opportunities abound for faculty to develop their own curricula, mentor physicians-in-training, and shape the future of medical education at UMSOM.
