Over 40 years ago, Supplemental Health Care (SHC) was founded as a regional behavioral health travel nursing agency to support specialized psychiatric roles. As SHC grew, we expanded across the continuum of care to offer dedicated support in education, home health, hospice, government programs, skilled nursing, ambulatory, and more.
Today, SHC is a leading provider of tech-enabled workforce solutions supporting behavioral health, education, and healthcare services. Our innovative SHC WeConnect tech stack, world-class service, and on-going commitment to positive impact are just a few of the reasons why SHC’s legacy of caring continues to grow.
Company History
March 14, 1984
Supplemental Health Care is founded in Buffalo, NY as a specialty travel nursing agency focused on psychiatric nurses.
2001 Growth!
After expanding across the U.S., SHC opens our first Allied division, supporting speech, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. SHC eventually grows to 60+ divisions in 30 cities.
2005 SHC’s proprietary applicant tracking system begins as a simple project to track nurse information but soon grows into a
tailor-made solution for all of SHC’s tracking, automation, and support needs.
2021 SHC evolves with an organizational realignment into dedicated divisions, each supporting specific sites of care. Without the need for physical offices in every market SHC serves, the company transitions to core regional offices supported by remote workers across the country.
Today, we support thousands of healthcare and educational professionals at hundreds of facilities across the country, and every
connection helps fuel miraculous moments for patients, their families, and their communities.
