Fahrenheit Advisors has been retained by our client, HOUSEpitality Family restaurant group, to assist in the search and selection of an HR Director to join their growing team.

The HOUSEpitality Family restaurant group is the product of Kevin Healy’s 30-year career as an independent restaurant owner. All of the family-run restaurants share the same mission, to celebrate life one bite at a time. HOUSEpitality Family includes four locations of The Boathouse: The Boathouse at Sunday Park, The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing, The Boathouse at Short Pump Town Center and The Boathouse at City Point; three Casa del Barco locations: Casa del Barco Canal Walk, Casa del Barco Short Pump Town Center, Casa del Barco Chesterfield Towne Center; one Island Shrimp Co location with a second on its way; and the outdoor dining pop-up concept Dinner in the Field.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Director will act as a strategic leader in ensuring smooth and efficient operation of all Human Resource functions including talent acquisition, organizational design and staffing, benefits, compensation, performance management, employee engagement and training and development. The Human Resource Director will establish company policies and promote a positive company culture, serving as a trusted advisor to management and staff.

The ideal candidate for this role should possess a high work ethic, excellent communication skills, expert knowledge of labor regulations and HR practices, strategic thinking abilities, ability to prioritize in high volume of demands and excellent interpersonal skills.


  • Work as a strategic partner with management to enable a client-focused, high-performing culture emphasizing teamwork, honesty, compassion, respect, and customer service.
  • Lead, manage and further develop the existing HR team
  • Identify key performance indicators for the human resource and talent management functions and assesses success against these metrics.
  • Monitor, own and ensure compliance with federal, state, regulations, local employment laws including any related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the American with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Department of Labor and workers compensation and regulations. Recommend best practices; reviews and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Design, coordinate and administer performance review process.
  • Counsel and advise management in progressive discipline and appropriate resolution of employee relations issues to ensure uniform application of company policy and practice. Review and advise on recommendations for termination of employment.
  • Manage and oversee all benefit administration to include education, new hire enrollment, qualifying events, open enrollment, monthly invoice auditing, broker relationship, and reporting.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the company attracts and retains top talent. Updating job descriptions and adjusting salary ranges based on internal and external market data.
  • Manage and serve as expert for the HRIS database. Providing reporting and analysis to executive management upon request.
  • Responsible for monitoring employee satisfaction, engagement, and morale across all locations.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, employee relations, training, recruitment, and benefits administration
  • Demonstrated active listening skills and the ability to mediate, negotiate and communicate in difficult situations.
  • Knowledge and objectivity to coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues.
  • Ability to develop relationships, impact and influence all levels of the organization.
  • Strong professional ethics to manage highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with staff and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instruction and seek guidance as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in Human Resources field, with 3+ years of HR leadership experience
  • Hospitality or relative industry experience preferred
  • PHR or SHRM certification highly desired
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
