DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE ROLE
Family Law CASA is seeking a reliable and proactive development professional to provide support to the Development Director and Executive Director for the implementation of strategic plans to raise funds for Family Law CASA. This person will be responsible for coordinating activities and managing projects related to development and communications and serves as the central steward of the fundraising database, Salesforce. We are looking for a motivated, self-starter with excellent attention to detail, who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and wants to support us in fulfilling our mission.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing & Communications
- Facilitates the execution of marketing and communications activities for fundraising.
- Manages social media strategy, content creation, analytics tracking, and optimization for Family Law CASA social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Assists Development Director with writing blog content, newsletters, website copy, and other promotional materials.
- Fosters strategic public relations to build and expand relationships with external/internal stakeholders to increase community brand awareness.
- Develops and executes email marketing strategy including management of MailChimp.
- Updates the website with direction from the Development Director.
Development Operations
- Manages gift processing, donor records and gift acknowledgments.
- Oversees Salesforce database to include maintenance of donor records; generation and management of reports; and reconciliation of records with accountant.
- Assists the Director of Development with the annual campaign and other campaigns.
- Communicates with individual and corporate donors as needed.
Special Events
- Assists the Development Director with planning and logistics for donor and fundraising events to include event registration, guest management, communication, and event support. This includes lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Attends committee meetings and acts as the recording secretary.
Other Duties
- Participates in staff meetings, development and communications team meetings, DEIB conversations and other periodic events.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two or more years in nonprofit communications or similar experience.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with a diversity of folks, with an understanding of systems of oppression facing low-income communities of color.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to approach peers and partners with empathy and kindness.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and organize responsibilities to effectively address multiple projects and manage deadlines.
- Demonstrated high attention to detail, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated self-awareness and reflection skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design principles.
- Demonstrated multimedia content creation skills.
- Experience writing copy for a variety of purposes and audiences.
- Professional working proficiency with Mailchimp and Canva, or comparable software.
- Demonstrated basic to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office experience required).
- Commitment to Family Law CASA’s mission and values.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of digital accessibility principles, community-centric fundraising values, and/or trauma-informed storytelling.
- Fundraising database experience, preferably with Salesforce.
- Website management experience, preferably with WordPress.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- An undergraduate degree, or any combination of education and experience, will qualify a candidate for this position. Education acquired outside of the United States is acceptable.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
- Ability to read, write and speak English with primary fluency is required.
- Ability to read, write and speak Spanish with professional working proficiency is a plus.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for this role is $53,109 to $74,353 per year, with starting salary at lower end of the range. COLA adjustments are given each year in July.

ACCESSIBILITY
Our office is accessible via elevator with wide hallways to reach our suite. Individual workspace for Development Associate available with space for a variety of mobility aids. Tour of physical office space will be included in the second round of interviews (in person).
The parking lot includes many spots near the main entrance including a few spots reserved for accessibility with small ramps up to the walkway. The main entrance does have an accessible button to push the doors open as well.
LOCATION
Our offices are in Tukwila, WA near Southcenter Mall. It is about a 10-minute walk from the bus lines on Andover Park W, or the Tukwila Sounder train stop to our building with traffic lights and crosswalks at each intersection.
