Maimonides Medical Center is at the forefront of innovation in medical science and is the largest hospital in Brooklyn. The accredited Maimonides Cancer Center is the only full-service center in Brooklyn, providing all treatment modalities and specialties. Maimonides is a state-designated Regional Perinatal Center, accepting high-risk maternity patients — a reflection of our expertise in Obstetrics and Neonatology. More babies are born at Maimonides than at any other hospital in NY State. The Maimonides Children’s Hospital provides all major pediatric specialties. 

Our outpatient psychiatry division currently performs over 60,000 visits for adults and children per year. Our acute care division includes a dedicated psychiatry ED with approximately 5000 emergency consultations per year, 2 inpatient units totaling 70 inpatient beds, and a busy CL service.  Our adult and child-trained staff speak 10+ languages. Excellent interdepartmental collaborations have allowed us to provide dedicated mental health services for our LVAD program, the Cancer Center, pediatrics, college-age, LGBTQ+, and women’s mental health. 

We are seeking motivated psychiatrists for teaching positions working in our Adult or Child/Adolescent Outpatient Services as well as a Director of Substance Use Treatment Services.  

Qualified candidates will be board-eligible or board-certified. Eligibility or certification in child and adolescent psychiatry is required for the outpatient child psychiatry position. We offer exceptional compensation and benefits packages.  The salary range is $275,000-$295,000.

We also have a new exciting position for Director of Substance Use Treatment Services- a leadership role which will require:
•    Fellowship training in addiction psychiatry
•    3 years or more post-training experience 
•    Interest in education and new program development
This is an opportunity to lead the development of a new state of the art integrated OMH+OASAS licensed clinic in the heart of Brooklyn. Protected time (40%) will be provided for the substantial leadership/administrative needs in this role. The clinical work will be in the  adult outpatient department. Leadership responsibility includes providing education and leadership to all services in the department for substance use services. Compensation: $300,000-$325,000.

All of the above positions come with no overnight on-call obligation with opportunities to earn supplemental income from voluntary night or weekend coverage. The positions have partial off-site telepsychiatry options, candidates should discuss their individual expectations when responding to this posting. The outpatient experiences offer an opportunity to provide both medication management and psychotherapy with the flexibility to tailor your caseload to specialized patient populations. In addition to clinical care, Maimonides has a supportive academic culture where our clinicians take pride in teaching and supervising residents and medical students from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine. Maimonides has a large residency training program with 36 residents and our teaching attendings receive a faculty appointment at SUNY Downstate.
