Job Posting: Project Electrical Engineer – Solar PV, BESS & Power Conditioning Systems
Location: Toronto, ON Company: Circuit Energy Inc.
About Us
Circuit Energy is at the forefront of sustainable power solutions, specializing in industrial UPS systems, power conditioning, and renewable energy systems. We design, engineer, install, and maintain advanced electrical and renewable infrastructure that helps our clients improve energy reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
Our Mission
To design, build, and maintain safe, reliable, and technologically advanced electrical systems that reduce energy costs and carbon emissions for our clients.
Our Vision
To foster resilient, sustainable, and dynamic operations for all industries by delivering solutions that optimize energy efficiency, enhance power reliability, and harness the full potential of renewable energy resources.
The Role
As a Project Electrical Engineer, you will support the design and execution of Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), UPS, and power conditioning projects from concept through commissioning.
You will work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and field teams to deliver compliant, constructible, and high-quality electrical designs. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work and project execution without formal people-management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering & Execution
Support the electrical design and engineering of Solar PV, BESS, UPS, and power quality projects. Prepare and develop electrical drawings and documentation including SLDs, layouts, and permit packages (ESA, CIA, IFC, As-Builts). Assist with permitting, regulatory submissions, and utility interconnection requirements. Support construction activities through site visits, RFIs, and field coordination. Participate in testing, commissioning, and system handover activities. Work collaboratively with project managers to support schedule, scope, and budget adherence. Electrical Design & Analysis
Design and review low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, protection devices, and control panels. Prepare load calculations, cable sizing, grounding layouts, and protection documentation. Support short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies using ETAP or equivalent tools. Review shop drawings, vendor submittals, and as-built documentation for technical compliance. Ensure designs comply with OESC, CSA, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, OBC, and applicable standards. Equipment & Vendor Coordination
Support the selection and technical review of inverters, transformers, BESS components, switchgear, and protection equipment. Assist with technical evaluations during procurement and RFP processes. Coordinate with vendors to resolve technical questions and integration requirements. Sales & Proposal Support
Assist with conceptual designs, technical inputs, and scope definition for proposals and RFP responses. Support client meetings by providing technical insight and feasibility assessments as required. Support sales activities by participating in customer meetings, contributing to proposal preparation, and engaging in technical evaluations and solution discussions with clients. Continuous Improvement
Stay informed on evolving electrical codes, standards, and incentive programs. Contribute to internal design standards, templates, and process improvements. Support the evaluation and integration of new technologies in energy storage and power quality.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. P.Eng. License in Ontario (or actively working toward registration). 3–5 years of experience in electrical engineering for Solar PV, BESS, power conditioning, or industrial power systems. Proficiency with AutoCAD and familiarity with ETAP or similar power system analysis tools. Working knowledge of electrical protection, grounding, power quality, and utility interconnections. Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, civil, and architectural drawings. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a project team environment. Willingness to travel to project sites occasionally as required. What We Offer
Competitive salary and performance-based bonus. Comprehensive benefits and professional development support. Exposure to complex, high-impact energy infrastructure projects. A collaborative, technically driven, and sustainability-focused work environment. Occasional project-related travel.
