Voter Access Director, The Wisco Project
The Organization:
The Wisco Project is Wisconsin’s largest, scrappiest youth vote organization. We run large-scale organizing and digital programming to reach and mobilize students across the state. In 2026, we will seek to build on the work of previous cycles to run our strongest program yet and score progressive victories for students across the state. This will be a crucial year for Wisconsin and we are in need of talented, dedicated staff ready to take on this challenge with us!
What Will You Do?
We are looking for a detail-oriented Voter Access Director to lead our efforts to expand ballot access and protect the votes of Wisconsin students. The Voter Access director should be someone who is passionate about ensuring that every single eligible Wisconsin student is able to cast their ballot in 2026. The role will start in early January and run through November, with the possibility of extension. This position will be based in Madison, WI and requires a significant amount of in-person work. Supporter housing may be available.
The Voter Access Director will:
Become our organization’s leading authority on rules governing voter registration and voting
Manage internal ‘source of truth’ regarding Early Voting hours and locations, Election Day Polling Places, and campus policies and procedures
Work collaboratively across departments to ensure that everyone within in the organization has the knowledge they need to empower students to vote, and that any information we are sharing is accurate
Engage municipal clerks to advocate for improved ballot access for students
Engage campus officials regarding campus policies and resources, and as necessary, facilitating communication between campuses and clerks
Identify opportunities for broader advocacy around ballot access
Represent The Wisco Project in voter protection coalitions and build relationships with partners
Manage our campus poll observer program
Manage additional Voter Access staff as hired
All other duties as assigned
Who Are You?
A successful candidate for this role will have:
At least 2 cycles of campaign experience is required, with at least one cycle of voter access/protection experience strongly preferred
Strong understanding of voting rights and election processes. Excellent communication and organizational skills – including the ability to simplify complicated rules and procedures – are essential
Extremely advanced attention to detail
Experience developing and managing program or systems is preferred
Passion for civic engagement, highly motivated, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
Experience managing staff and/or volunteers
Strong familiarity with Google Sheets, VAN, and other campaign tools
Job Details: Compensation for this role is $7,500/month plus benefits. This is a Full Time role.
