Description
About the Organization: The Committee to Protect Health Care is an advocacy organization
seeking universal, quality health care for all Americans. Led by physicians and supported by a full
staff of campaign professionals, the Committee effects change in health care policy and politics
through physician organizing, paid media, lobbying, earned media strategies — and, increasingly,
new media.
Paging America is a podcast of the Committee hosted by Executive Director Dr. Rob Davidson
and Chief of Staff Miles Baker. The podcast has been published weekly thus far and explores the
power, profit, and policies shaping American health care. However, we seek to grow Paging
America into the media home base of the universal health care movement. Thus we plan to
expand our content operation significantly, producing more content across YouTube and other
platforms, meeting audiences where the news is happening.
About the Position: The Committee to Protect Health Care seeks a video editor and/or digital
creator to help develop and execute aggressive media strategies for the Committee and Paging
America. The creator will work closely with our podcast contributors, and our communications
and organizing teams, to create compelling digital content that moves physicians, voters, and
decisionmakers.
The ideal candidate has their pulse on how to navigate the changing landscapes of new and
social media and reach a variety of audiences with quality video and other digital content. They
should be comfortable navigating a fast-paced workplace, talking with and coaching physicians
for video content, and adjusting to new goals and sets of priorities. Diplomacy, the ability to
handle multiple projects at once, and a drive to meet time-bound goals are a must.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Edit video footage for use on YouTube, including catchy thumbnails and captions, as well
as short-form vertical clips for TikTok, Reels, etc., optimizing for each platform
Record high-quality remote videos, and/or coach physicians on creating their own
compelling content, as well as record in-person videos when possible
Manage the Committee and Paging America YouTube channels with an eye toward
standardization and growth (and measure that growth via relevant analytics)
Create compelling graphics and other types of digital content for use across platforms
Collaborate with team members and physician advocates to plan recordings, select clips
Ensure all content meets brand and quality standards, and is politically judicious
Desired Qualifications:
Strong video editing skills, including graphic additions
Experience creating content for YouTube and other social media platforms
Experience recording and producing remote and/or in-person video
Excellent attention to detail and storytelling instincts
Efficient prioritization skills
Flexibility with work schedule to keep pace with news cycle and rapid responses
Drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and take on new challenges
Commitment to improving health care system, including protecting abortion access
