- Vice President of Developement
Description
The Vice President of Development is a senior executive leader responsible for advancing a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy that sustains and grows the organization’s philanthropic revenue in the Greater Miami–Dade region. Reporting to the President and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, this role oversees a development department which will include 4-6 professionals and is accountable for all contributed revenue, donor engagement, board partnership, and fundraising operations.
The VP of Development partners closely with the President, senior leadership, and Board of Directors to ensure philanthropy is fully integrated into organizational strategy. This executive leads fundraising across individual and major gifts, principal gifts, capital and comprehensive campaigns, corporate and foundation support, planned giving, and high-profile events.
Requirements
Experience
5 years of senior-level nonprofit fundraising leadership experience.
Proven success developing and executing diversified fundraising strategies.
Demonstrated experience leading major gifts and capital or comprehensive campaigns.
Track record cultivating and stewarding high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and institutional funders.
Experience working closely with CEOs/Presidents and Boards of Directors.
Experience managing and developing fundraising teams.
Experience within youth-serving, education, or community-based organizations highly desirable.
Fundraising & Technical Skills
Expertise across multiple fundraising channels, including:
Major and principal gifts
Annual giving
Capital or comprehensive campaigns
Corporate partnerships
Foundation and grant funding
Planned giving
Signature fundraising events
Digital fundraising strategies
Ability to develop and execute multi-year fundraising strategies.
Experience with donor CRM systems, fundraising analytics, and performance dashboards.
Financial management skills including budgeting, revenue forecasting, and pledge management.
Understanding of nonprofit fundraising compliance, ethics, and regulatory standards.
Strong communication and partnership skills across marketing, finance, and program teams.
Ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
Data-driven decision-making and financial acumen.
Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work across diverse stakeholders.
Commitment to transparency, ethical fundraising practices, and inclusive leadership.
