Responsibilities
The nature of this role is to help prevent damages. The Damage Prevention Specialist works as a liaison to the homeowner and/or contractor and the cable company.
- Practice safe dig practices in accordance to 811 dig law
- Visit active job sites in a company provided vehicle to communicate to contractors or homeowners about safe dig practices in accordance to 811 dig law
- Facilitate fiber and coax marking corrections and updates as needed
- Provide quality checks on utility markings
- Accurately complete detailed documentation of daily activities
- Assist in identifying marked utilities, structures and maps and in the field
- Perform operator level maintenance on assigned company tools and equipment as required
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent requiredPrevious experience in utility location/damage prevention is requiredStrong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with contractors, homeowners, and stakeholdersAbility to work independently in the field, problem-solve, and adapt to changing conditions on job sites
- Work outdoors under the full range of weather conditions typically experienced throughout all seasons of the year Valid driver's licenseFamiliarity with 811 dig laws and safe excavation practices is preferred, but training will be provided
