Job Summary The Supervisor of Histology manages the daily operations of the Histopathology Laboratory. This includes ensuring regulatory and safety requirements are met. Supervises staff, including work assignments, hiring/termination, performance reviews, orientation, and professional development. Essential Functions of the Role * Supervises the daily functions of the histopathology laboratory to ensure it runs efficiently. * Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel including the selection, orientation, training, assignments, evaluations, discipline, and discharge of employees. * Oversees equipment maintenance records and schedules preventative maintenance for equipment including microscopes, microtones, strainers, ovens, and cryostats. * Assist with budgeting. Provide information about supplies, personnel, and equipment. Seek avenues of cost containment. Plan long-term purchases or capital equipment. * Develops, recommends, implements, and maintains policies and procedures related to the histopathology laboratory. * Ensures compliance with all safety standards established by OSHA and CAP. * Remains knowledgeable of trends in Histopathology through review of current literature and continuing education. * Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director.
