- Student Attendance Specialist
Description
Essential Duties
Identifies and connects with students demonstrating attendance challenges at school
Coordinates communication with administration, students, and families to ensure that barriers to attendance are reduced or removed and students are able to access their education
Maintains accurate records of student attendance; prepares and maintains a variety of records and files regarding student attendance, tardiness, truancy, suspension and discipline
Communicates with students and parents regarding attendance and related issues; conducts home visits as needed
Incentivizes and celebrates improvement in attendance rates with students and families
Refers serious attendance problems according to established procedures; assists in identifying and resolving problems of students with frequent absenteeism
May be required to drive PACE van to facilitate student attendance*
Create and conduct professional learning sessions for district employees and provide custom attendance support as directed in response to district needs.
Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned
*North Cook will facilitate and pay for PACE van certification which requires meeting the PACE vanpool driving requirements including drug testing
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and/or office experience preferred, but not required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; additional languages other than English preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Friendly and patient demeanor including conflict resolution skills
Assignments that require driving the PACE van must be able to pass DOT physical and drug screens
