SENIOR LANDMANMIDLAND BASED APPLICANTS NEED ONLY APPLY
An Independent Oil and Gas exploration company headquartered in Midland, Texas is in search of a Midland based Senior Landman to assist in the development of its existing assets along with growing its business into other areas of the Permian Basin. Senior Landman is expected to handle relatively complex business development and operational transactions and title work. This position provides research and analytical support to company personnel. This level is viewed as a qualified, fully competent Land professional able to carry out projects independently and will provide company personnel with standard and routine land and regulatory tasks related to land issues.
Duties:
• Understand the regulatory framework of New Mexico and Texas to assess the implications pertaining to various transaction and title matters during the due diligence and development stages of various assets;
• Prepare hearing exhibits and testify as an expert witness in front of the NMOCD
• Provide land support within multi-disciplinary team to evaluate acquisition, divestiture, and trade opportunities;
• Work with legal counsel in preparation of complex and non-standard transactional instruments;
• Have a working knowledge of both New Mexico and Texas title and be able to provide guidance to field landman personnel as it relates to title issues for acquisitions, trades and asset development;
• Interpret and negotiate various contracts including joint operating agreements, pooling agreements, farmout agreements, exploration agreements, PSAs, oil and gas leases, surface use and right of way agreements, etc.;
• Understand the process of running title and be capable of independently indexing and updating ownership;
• Preparation of oil and gas leases and assignments of oil and gas leases;
• Order title opinions and lease takeoffs as necessary and perform and/or supervise title curative as needed;
• Work with administration and land support personnel to maintain land records system;
• Interact with and provide operations and engineering with land support and information critical to optimizing the development of assets; and
• Track and report various transactions, permitting, and well results throughout the Permian Basin.

• Proficiency in relationship building, encompassing effective engagement with land, drilling, and production operations teams, collaboration with state and federal agencies, and fostering positive interactions with mineral and landowners.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Land Management or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience, 2 of which as a field Landman and 3 of which as a practicing in-house Landman operating asset in either New Mexico or Texas (preference is both).
