Description

Guercio & Guercio, LLP, a leading education and municipal law firm representing school districts, BOCES and other public entities across New York State, seeks an experienced attorney (5+ years) to join its growing Capital Region office. The attorney will be engaged in a wide array of matters including education and special education Law, litigation, contracts, constitutional issues, and labor and employment. Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to: providing daily advice and counsel to boards of education and school administrators; handling cases in state and federal court and in administrative hearings; negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts; conducting legal research and preparing client memoranda.

Requirements

Candidate must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills, strong academic credentials, the ability to work independently, a commitment to exceptional client service, and a desire to help expand the practice. New York State bar admission is required. Minimum 5+ years' experience practicing law. Prior experience in education law, special education law, labor and employment law and/or collective bargaining is strongly preferred, and prior experience as a litigator is a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience.
