Winston Staffing has some exciting news to share – the NYC Department of Education has issued a bid request for nursing coverage for the upcoming school year. Both full time and per diem opportunities will be available. In order to be considered a qualified bidder, Winston must submit nurses who would like to work through Winston.
If you would like to be on our list that is sent to the DOE (no firm commitment is needed at this time) – here’s what we need:
Your Name
The borough you are able to work in
Your interest: Full Time, Per Diem, or 1:1 care (which can include transportation and/or school trips)
Your license number and expiration date
Responsibilities
Conduct health assessments and provide direct nursing care to students with various medical needs
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized health plans in collaboration with families, educators, and healthcare providers
Administer medications and treatments following established protocols and safety guidelines
Maintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with district policies and legal requirements
Educate students, staff, and families on health issues, preventive care, and wellness practices
Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing first aid or coordinating emergency services as necessary
Support health screenings such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis assessments
Collaborate with school staff to create a healthy school environment that promotes wellness initiatives
Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal health regulations governing school health services
Participate in training sessions, professional development activities, and meetings to stay current on best practices

Requirements
Valid New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license
Prior experience working in school health settings or pediatric healthcare is preferred
Knowledge of school health policies, immunization requirements, and emergency response procedures
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, staff, and healthcare providers
Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that respects diverse student populations
Ability to respond calmly and effectively during medical emergencies
