FULL TIME role being offered as a Compliance Officer, responsible for owning and managing Sadaqa Welfare Fund’s (SWF) compliance requirements as a charity, its subsidiaries and other businesses that may be directly or indirectly associated with SWF or its owners/director. This role will lead the high-level strategic alignment of the Sadaqa Welfare Fund brand, projects, initiatives and other businesses to achieve maximum impact
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Compliance Officer to oversee regulatory compliance, risk management and partner assurance across our Australian and overseas operations. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with ACNC and ATO obligations, strengthening AML/CTF controls, and maintaining robust governance over international field partners.
Maintain and enhance organisational compliance frameworks aligned with ACNC governance standards and ATO charity requirements.
Implement and oversee AML/CTF controls appropriate for international humanitarian and development operations.
Conduct due diligence, onboarding and ongoing compliance monitoring of local and overseas field partners and suppliers.
Lead regular risk assessments covering financial, operational, governance, reputational and third-party risks.
Monitor use of charitable funds to ensure alignment with approved charitable purposes and donor conditions.
Develop, review and maintain compliance policies including fraud, conflicts of interest, whistleblower, sanctions and governance policies.
Support internal and external audits, compliance reviews and partner verifications.
Prepare and support statutory reporting, including ACNC Annual Information Statements and related disclosures.
Apply ACNC governance tools, templates and risk guides to strengthen record-keeping, partner oversight and compliance controls.
Provide compliance advice and training to staff, leadership and international partners.
Track regulatory and financial-crime-related developments and advise on required changes.
Maintain compliance records, risk registers and incident management processes.
Manage and investigate compliance incidents, breaches and corrective actions.
Promote a culture of accountability, transparency and ethical conduct across the organisation.
Support continuous improvement and future-proofing of compliance systems as the charity grows.
Essential Skills & Experience
Demonstrated experience in compliance, risk or governance roles (charity, NFP, financial services or international operations preferred).
Strong knowledge of ACNC and ATO charity compliance requirements.
Experience with AML/CTF risk management, partner due diligence and sanctions screening.
Proven ability to assess and manage risks in international or high-risk environments.
Strong policy writing, documentation and regulatory reporting skills.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
