About Rivendell Behavioral Hospital:
Rivendell Behavioral Health Hospital is in the heart of Bowling Green, KY on a 49 acre campus. At Rivendell Behavioral Health Hospital, children who are in crisis receive psychiatric care. Job Description:
This job will require an individual to plan, evaluate, and implement recreational activities for clientele served by the hospital. Through the activities a candidate will address leisure education, physical abilities, social interaction, and emotional abilities of the clientele. The candidate should be able to conduct a variety of programs, such as but not limited to, addressing anger management, relaxation, self-reflection, and wellness recovery. Experience working with 12-Steps, Seven Challenges and Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills are strongly sought after but not required.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in recreation therapy or a related field. Experience preferred in a psychiatric setting.
Training and Experience: Must be certified or certifiable by the National Council on Recreation Therapy Certification. Must have or obtain first aid training and CPR certifications. At least two years’ experience. Life experiences may be considered in meeting experience requirements.
Physical Demands: Must have satisfactory health, stamina, and strength as the position necessitates frequent walking, standing, sitting, lifting, and assisting with the restraint of patients when necessary for the safety of the patient and/or others. Must have satisfactory vision and hearing to adequately and efficiently perform the requirements of the position. Must have the agility and coordination to participate in group activities. Must be willing and able to assist in protecting patients from harming themselves and/or others in emergency situations.
Materials Utilized: Van, all recreational and occupational materials including clay, wood work, bats and balls, etc.
