About the Position:
We are looking for a Project Safety Manager to join the JAPAN QUALITY AUDIT & FUNCTIONAL SAFETY team, reporting directly to the Quality/Audit & Functional Safety Senior Specialist.
This position is based at our office in Yoshimi plant.
Your Responsibilities will be:
- Evaluate the functional safety impact of RFIs, RFQs and CRs, supported by Functional Safety Specialists where needed.
- Responsible for the agreement of safety-related strategies with the OEM for the given project in alignment with Marelli stakeholders.
- Estimate the effort (manpower and budget) for Functional Safety Management team activities for each offer.
- Plan, monitor and control functional safety activities.
- Define safety plan and safety case.
- Act as the main interface between Functional Safety Management team and the other teams in the project on safety-related issues.
- Provide approval to verification review reports produced during product development.
- Execute confirmation reviews supported by Functional Safety Specialists
- Prepare the project team for functional safety audits and assessments.
- Sign-off release for production for safety-related projects, in collaboration with the divisions Head of Functional Safety Management.
- Contribute to the definition and collection of indicators to measure Functional Safety team efficiency and effectiveness for his/her area of competence, aiming at continuous process improvement, with special focus on project tasks.
- Share opportunities for process improvement with Functional Safety Methodology Specialist and with the rest of the team.

- Mandatory skills
- Leadership of engineering teams in automotive electronics (e.g. project or team management)
- Automotive product development processes (e.g. IATF16949)
- Communication skills across management levels, incl. synthesis
- Interest in functional safety and international cooperation
Desirable skills (will be trained on the job, if not already present)- Management of product engineering across complete development cycle (offers, system design & verification/validation, Sw/Hw design & test, product release)
- ISO26262 or similar standard on functional safety, ASpice
- Safety analysis (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA) and confirmation (assessment) management
- Vehicle safety architecture and rules of local OEMs
- Coaching and control of functional safety for OEMs, sales, project and engineering management, production, field monitoring
- Supplier management incl. budgeting
- Interaction with senior management and legal teams at Marelli and OEM on safety challenges
- Configuration and risk management
- Inter-cultural skills

Language skills- Japanese and English knowledge mandatory
- Italian/Spanish/French/German/Chinese is a plus
Education and former experience- Technical engineering degree or equivalent knowledge.
- Experience in engineering of automotive electronics
