- Project Controls Manager
Description
The organization is seeking a full-time Project Controls Manager to support the effective planning, execution, and oversight of projects. This role is critical to ensuring schedules, costs, documentation, reporting, and coordination activities are well managed and aligned with project objectives.
The successful candidate will have experience working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders, supported by strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. They will also bring a solid understanding of safety, quality, and compliance requirements within project-based environments and apply these principles consistently in their day-to-day work.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Project Performance, Delivery & Controls
- Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules and cost forecasts
- Prepare and administer project documentation (e.g., Change Orders, Non-Disclosure Agreements, insurance-related documents)
- Oversee document control processes, including submission tracking, quality checks, and filing
- Support project monitoring, data collection, and reporting activities
- Assist in the preparation of reporting packages for project leadership and senior management
- Act as a liaison between project management teams and external stakeholders or clients
- Coordinate and support project-related meetings and discussions, including progress reviews
- Apply project progress measurement methodologies to ensure schedules remain on track for key milestones and deliverables
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams (Project Managers, Engineers, Planners, Administrators, and other staff as required)
- Promote and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and project requirements
- Ensure engagement of team members through appropriate delegation of responsibilities
Risk Management
- Monitor project costs and commitments through requisition and invoice review
- Ensure adherence to recommended best practices (e.g., Critical Path Method (CPM) and PERT-based scheduling)
- Ensure adherence to quality standards such as Total Quality Management (TQM) or Six Sigma by supporting the use of quality control processes and checklists
- Identify and address project risks, roadblocks, or delays through technical expertise, innovative problem-solving, alternative approaches, resource optimization, and schedule adjustments
- Support project financial oversight, including cash flow monitoring and financial reporting inputs
Requirements
Education & Experience Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in project controls, project coordination, and/or project management within a project-based environment
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Demonstrated experience with project scheduling, cost forecasting, reporting, and document control
- Working knowledge of project controls methodologies (e.g., CPM, PERT, progress measurement techniques)
