Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Housing Operations Specialist, Pre-Collegiate Programs, the Pre-College Residence Director (PCRD) is a seasonal/temporary live-on professional staff member. The PCRD supervises a staff of undergraduate Resident Assistants and creates a healthy living, learning environment through creative programming, counseling, facility management, staff supervision, policy implementation, and administrative duties.The PCRD is a live-on position with a 1-2 bedroom, full furnished apartment. A limited meal plan is provided throughout the program's duration. Bentley University offers comprehensive partner and pet policies. Applicants must be able to reside on campus from May 31, 2026, through July 25, 2026:
Program Preparation: June 1-12, full-time training and pre-program support 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Program Duration: June 14 July 25, Monday-Friday typically 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with occasional daytime responsibilities 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. (in lieu of evening), as well as rotating weekend coverage. Must be able to serve in overnight on-duty rotation. Will be given 2 days off per week (rotating / to be determined).
Post-Program: July 29 post program move out date, move out of residence halls by 12pm.
Essential Duties:
- Together with other PCRDs, provide primary oversight and support of program participants during residential experience outside of course hours, typically Monday-Friday 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Occasional daytime 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. shifts may be required in lieu of evening responsibilities to provide administrative program support. Scheduling, including days off per week, will be determined with the position supervisor.
- Serve in overnight on-duty rotation to provide uninterrupted support during crisis situations and address urgent student needs (10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Monday-Friday, 24 hours on weekends).
- Manage development and execution of co-curricular programming for residential participants, including rotating weekend coverage.
- Ensure participants are accounted for and are acting in compliance with program guidelines.
- Supervise a team of 15 Resident Assistants, including regular 1:1 meetings, staff meetings, and providing appropriate feedback to ensure satisfactory job performance.
- Assist Housing Operations Specialist, as needed, with administrative program responsibilities, including housing assignments, participant record management, staff scheduling, etc.
- Provide support for residential student arrival and departure of residential students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required and relevant experience working with high school aged students, summer camps, or college residence life preferred.
- Prior experience managing or leading a team is preferred.
- Experience developing and leading student activities.
- Effective communication skills, including cross-cultural communication skills, as well as experience or interest in working and programming with diverse populations.
- Strong work ethic, including reliability, timeliness, and professionalism.
- Must be able to reside on campus (furnished, 2-bedroom apartment) from May 31, 2026, through July 25, 2026.
Work Environment:
- Shares administrator on-duty functions with two other PCRDs. The PCRD must live in assigned housing for duration of employment. Frequent and significant evening, late night, and weekend hours are required.
- RDs may need to go to the scene of student issues wherever they take place on campus. Climbing stairs and walking down hallways in Residence Halls will be required to accomplish.
- PCRDs are not permitted to have visitors where program participant activities are taking place.
- PCRDs will be scheduled for regular work shifts as well as overnight on-duty shifts each week, which will be determined with their supervisor. PCRDs are expected to be on-time and present for all scheduled shifts.
Pay Transparency
In alignment with Bentley's commitment to equity and transparency, we are disclosing the compensation for this temporary role. This position offers a fixed salary of $7,000, paid over the months worked or according to the designated seasonal schedule.
