Description
Leads and supervises the parks maintenance team including full-time, part-time/seasonal staff and volunteers. Coaches, counsels, motivates, inspires, and mentors team members to reach their greatest potential. Hires, trains, and evaluates team members. Is open, approachable, engages and supports team members and encourages two-way communication and feedback.
Oversees and guides the maintenance of the City’s park-related infrastructure to ensure they are safe, clean, and green (aesthetically pleasing). Plans, organizes, and assigns tasks. Set standards, inspect, and improve maintenance performance. Teach, train, and inform team members on best maintenance and safety practices.
Oversees, operates, and ensures safe and proper operation and maintenance of the division’s equipment resources. Provides regular operational and safety training. Maintains proper documentation and record keeping.
Manages and leads the Parks Division. Establishes division goals and projects. Assists with the creation, and manages the implementation of operational and project budgets. Develops justification and explanation of operational needs. Communicates and addresses questions or concerns from residents, community groups, and appointed bodies. Provide professional advice and support to the Parks and Recreation Director, other administrators, or City Council.
Manages service contracts, construction contracts and coordinates with other departments and agencies to facilitate work. Develops scopes of work, specifications, and coordinates with General Services to bid work and projects. Manages contractors, inspecting their work to ensure it meets standards and complies with contracts.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skilled in the use of a computer (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and use of an irrigation control system.
Ability to meet and deal effectively with public groups.
Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions.
Ability to organize and supervise the work of others.
Knowledge of the standards for the preparation, construction, and maintenance of parks, ballfields, and recreation facilities.
Knowledge of planting and maintenance of turf and related areas.
Knowledge of park\golf course maintenance and construction tools, equipment and materials.
Advanced knowledge of park irrigation systems operation and repair.
Ability to obtain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certificate is highly desirable.
Ability to obtain a Colorado Commercial Pesticide Applicator License.
Must be able to be on-call for emergencies.
Ability to obtain a Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certification (CPSI) is highly desirable.
Must possess a valid CDL Class B license within 6 months of hire.
High School graduate or equivalent.
College degree in horticulture, agronomy, turf management or related field and / or five years operational experience and at least two years supervisory experience in a related field.
