- Maintenance and Facilities Manager
Description
Position Overview:
We’re seeking a Maintenance and Facilities Manager to lead all maintenance, facilities, and equipment operations at our client site in beautiful Petoskey, Michigan. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who blends electrical controls expertise with strong people management, ownership of preventive maintenance, and a passion for safe, efficient operations. You’ll partner closely with Production, Quality, and Operations to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and ensure our facilities and systems meet regulatory standards—all while modeling company core values.
What You’ll Do:
Lead & Develop the Team
Train, schedule, coach, and lead a skilled maintenance team
Set clear expectations, manage performance, and enforce policies and procedures
Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Own Maintenance & Reliability
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across all equipment and facilities
Use CMMS to plan, schedule, assign, and document work
Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize production downtime
Electrical Controls & Automation
Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve electrical control systems
Troubleshoot, repair, and program PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and automation components
Read, interpret, and maintain wiring diagrams and control documentation
Facilities & Infrastructure
Oversee building systems, utilities, and grounds (HVAC, lighting, electrical panels, security systems)
Manage contractors for repairs, construction, and capital projects
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and NFPA standards
Planning, Budgeting & Improvement
Develop and manage maintenance and facilities budgets
Track, spend, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions
Identify opportunities to improve uptime, reliability, and cost efficiency
Safety First
Maintain a safe, compliant work environment aligned with OSHA and NFPA requirements
Conduct inspections and safety training
Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee

Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
Education
Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred
Equivalent experience considered
Experience
5+ years in industrial maintenance, electrical controls, or automation
2+ years leading a maintenance or technical team
Technical Skills
PLC/HMI experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
Strong knowledge of VFDs, motor controls, sensors, and instrumentation
Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA regulations
