The Artificial Perception & Threat Awareness (APTA) division at SARA is making the future of Aerospace and Autonomy happen now, with a charter to create new and emerging sensor perception technologies for Commercial & Military markets. Our innovative technologies include RF, optical and acoustic sensors enabled with innovative embedded algorithms, machine learning and robust networking. We are seeking an experienced and responsible Lead Systems Engineer responsible for the development of a cutting-edge high-speed data acquisition system in Cypress, CA. This role will maintain technical vision, lead a team of talented engineers, and guide the project to a minimally viable product (MVP) and then through low-rate production. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who takes ownership of delivering the final product.Core Responsibilities:Establish requirements and oversee organized development of a high-speed data acquisition system, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with project goalsLead the architecting and design of complex systems involving high-speed digitizers, low-noise RF circuits, FPGAs, and embedded processorsDevelop solutions for compact packaging and high-level electromagnetic shielding to ensure performance in challenging environmentsMentor and guide junior engineersOversee system-level testing, validation, and optimization to meet performance and reliability requirementsManage project timelines, resources, and deliverablesStay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to push the boundaries of data acquisition systems Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field8 10 years of experience in high-speed electronics, RF design, FPGA development, or embedded systemsDemonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and mentor junior engineersExcellent problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling technical challengesUS Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearanceMay require moderate physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 50 poundsWorking environment is indoor, moderately loud, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated; moderate physical hazards may exist Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in related field, plus 10 12 years of experience in high-speed electronics, RF design, FPGA development, or embedded systemsOr Master's Degree, plus 8 10 years of experienceOr PhD, plus 5 7 years of experienceProven expertise designing high-speed digitizers, low-noise RF circuits, and FPGA-based systemsExperience with embedded programming (C/C++, RTOS) and FPGA design tools (Vivado/Verilog/VHDL)Experience with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and designing for high-threat electromagnetic environmentsStrong project management skills with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budgetActive DoD Secret or higher Clearance SARA offers a competitive benefits package to include:Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance; and other supplemental programsA generous PTO program (vacation, sick, holiday)Tuition & certification reimbursementFlexible work schedulesDiscretionary Employee bonuses401(k) match/profit sharingEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Pay RangeSalary at SARA is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of SARA's total compensation package for employees.
