Position Summary
In conjunction with the Executive Director, the Associate Director for Franklin College Office of Information Technology will be responsible for ensuring technical and operational alignment across our functional teams of Client Services, Web Services, Systems Management, and Instructional Technology. The Associate Director will engage in oversight of college-level strategic planning and serve as a co-representative of Franklin College in campus committees and forums. This position will also manage relationships with college and university-level leadership and groups, in addition to vendors and other service providers. This position will be directly involved and responsible for the management of Endpoint Security aspects, including the handling of incidents, creation of response plans, and all other related aspects.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- This position must effectively communicate with stakeholders, make significant contributions to strategic and tactical planning efforts, be able to organize and lead meetings, and develop junior colleagues.
- This position must be able to develop or provide input into policy and related types of organizational-level documentation, develop and lead training, and be able to handle the complete employment lifecycle. 3
- This position requires financial management and budgeting abilities, should be able to create financial reports, and be able to project and create 3-5 year budget estimates for fiscal planning.
- Successful individuals in this position should be able to manage multiple complex projects with varying scopes and involved parties to meet established business objectives and financial constraints while performing other ongoing tasks.
- This position should be able to perform work in difficult situations, with the possibility of being in front of groups or large classrooms of faculty, staff, and possibly students.
- This position requires punctuality in scheduling and reliability in supporting the mission of the organization.
- Competitive individuals should have 5 or more years in a management role supervising several direct reports and be familiar with the entire employee lifecycle from onboarding to exit interviews.
- Project management skills should include the ability to manage multiple high-level projects, delegation of duties to participants, updates to stakeholders, and overall ability to deliver expected results within reasonable deadlines and time frames.
- This position should have considerable experience in areas of strategic thinking and actions, management and leadership, proficiency in both written and verbal communications, strong decision-making and consideration for multiple sources of data, strong emotional intelligence, proficiency in technology within a higher education environment, a skilled leader in change leadership, and be adaptable to meet new and changing challenges.

Administrative Leadership
- Assist in serving as senior IT advisor to Dean's Office and Franklin leadership.
- Attend campus meetings as a Franklin College IT leadership representative (e.g., ITMF , VPIT Exec, OUA meetings); will serve as the senior IT advisor to the dean and Franklin College leadership.
- Participate in planning and provide strategic leadership for all information technology (IT) services in Franklin College, including planning, delivery, and management.
- Assist and serve as primary executive sponsor for Franklin OIT projects (many with college-wide scope).
- Ensure alignment between Franklin IT and the mission of the College; make Franklin IT innovative, efficient, and effective.
- Facilitate data-driven decision-making and paperless processes.
- Manage relationships with unit and college leadership.

Operations
- Assist and coordinate the management of facilities and equipment resources relevant to the internal operations of the Office of Information Technology.
- Use key performance indicators to track the performance and effectiveness of projects and personnel operational efforts.
- Assist with the planning and execution of employee development, regular meetings, and related initiatives. This position may provide recommendations for classification, compensation, advancement opportunities, and the management of performance for junior colleagues.
- Serve as a primary CESS approver.
- Participates in the classification, compensation, performance management, and professional development for IT professionals in Franklin College.
- Oversee operational aspects of equipment allocations, including scenario vetting, coordination with partner groups, and all other logistics.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and oversight for managing tracked property control assets and items.
- Manage relationships with vendors and evaluate products and services.
- Serve as the primary security contact and facilitator for IT-related Endpoint matters and Incidents.
- Coordinate the planning and execution of endpoint management and operations, and associated personnel.
- Make recommendations for college-wide staffing and participate in selection committees.
- Review processes, recommend, and execute improvements.
- Seek alignment with university-level IT and develop IT policies, standards, and procedures for Franklin College as necessary. This position has extensive data collection, documentation, and reporting responsibilities.

Operational Planning and Budgeting
- Basic financial knowledge and management are required to track, coordinate, and manage expenditures. The individual must be detail-oriented to be able to interpret status and expense reports to maintain balanced accounts.
- This position may assist in creating and maintaining multi-year budget plans and documentation for the allocation of funds, and provide justifications for expenditures along with evidence-backed financial plans.
- Assist with the generation and maintenance of billing invoices for services and equipment to customers.
- Assist in the oversight of the Franklin OIT budget and lead end-of-year purchases.
