Does it give your brain zoomies to solve instructional design problems while building academically rigorous learning experiences, supporting educational technologies, and collaborating with dedicated faculty in an environment where adorable animals are an occupational hazard?
Your Mission
As the Instructional Technologist, you’ll support teaching and learning for the Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine, working closely with doctoral-level faculty in a demanding clinical and academic environment. You’ll help design effective, outcomes-aligned learning experiences, guide the thoughtful use of instructional technologies, and keep learning systems well-trained and well-behaved—supporting faculty and student success without letting the tech run off-leash.
Your Daily Rounds
Supporting instructional platforms such as Canvas, ExamSoft, Panopto, and other educational technologies
Collaborating with veterinary faculty to design learning experiences aligned with program and accreditation outcomes for synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid environments
Supporting high-quality instructional design and the effective integration of simulation-based learning, virtual labs, and immersive technologies (AR/VR)
Designing and supporting learning experiences that incorporate makerspace technologies, including 3D-printed anatomical models and veterinary teaching analogs
Designing and delivering relevant workshops and training for faculty and students
Helping ensure instructional technologies are reliable, effective, accessible, and well cared for (no neglected systems in this kennel)
Some evening or weekend availability may be required.
Your Professional Pedigree
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field (master’s preferred)
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in higher education, instructional technology, or a related field
Comfort working with subject-matter experts in complex or technical disciplines
Ability to translate complex content into effective, learner-centered instruction
Experience supporting applied, professional, or experiential learning environments
A solid understanding of instructional design and learning-focused technology
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students in a professional or academic setting
Bonus Skills and Experience
Experience with simulation-based or health sciences education
Familiarity with AR/VR, virtual labs, or makerspace environments
Interest in applied learning, instructional analogs, and competency-based education
You don’t need to know every tool on day one—we value curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to learn new systems without panicking.
