About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and hands-on Head of Finance to lead the delivery of financial analysis, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and procurement functions within a values-driven organisation.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, this senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing finance and procurement operations while providing accurate reporting, commercial insights, and strategic advice to support sound decision-making and strong financial stewardship across the organisation.
The Head of Finance leads a high-performing team and plays a key role in driving continuous improvement across financial systems, processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, short- and long-term forecasting, financial modelling, management accounting, statutory reporting, and internal controls
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance and procurement teams, fostering a collaborative, high-performance, and service-focused culture
- Oversee end-to-end financial planning and budgeting processes with a strong focus on accuracy, transparency, and strategic alignment
- Drive financial and management accounting reform, modelling, and process improvement initiatives to strengthen budget and financial management frameworks
- Develop and implement procurement strategies and procurement plans aligned with organisational priorities
- Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, controls, and reporting to enhance accuracy, timeliness, and decision-making
Management and Support
- Provide high-level strategic and technical advice to the Executive Leadership Team, Chief Finance Officer, and senior leaders on financial management, budgeting, management accounting, and procurement matters
- Deliver timely and high-quality financial advice and recommendations to executive stakeholders and the Board, linking financial outcomes to strategic objectives
- Provide expert procurement advice to internal clients, project teams, and senior stakeholders
- Ensure the maintenance of accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and internal policies
- Support business case development, ensuring financials are accurate and aligned to strategic priorities
Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including third-party providers and financial institutions
- Build and maintain strong strategic and operational relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Lead the management of existing contracts and supplier relationships, including performance monitoring, issue resolution, and compliance with agreed KPIs and obligations
- Strengthen supplier and stakeholder partnerships to support successful service delivery
- Ensure the team has the capability and skills required to deliver effective outcomes
Other Accountabilities
- Maintain awareness of contemporary issues, legislation, standards, and best practice relevant to the role
- Promote and model behaviour consistent with organisational values, governance frameworks, codes of conduct, and ethical standards
- Operate in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
- Undertake additional duties as required to support organisational operations and strategic priorities
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a strategic and commercially minded finance leader with strong technical expertise and a collaborative leadership style. You will bring demonstrated experience across financial management, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and procurement, along with the ability to provide trusted advice at executive level.
You will also have:
- Extensive senior leadership experience in finance and procurement
- Strong technical capability across management accounting, statutory reporting, financial controls, and financial modelling
- Experience leading budgeting and forecasting processes in a complex environment
- Proven ability to drive process improvement and reform initiatives
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong leadership capability with experience building and developing high-performing teams
