Description
OverviewConewango Valley Country Club is the premier private country club in northwestern Pennsylvania and the southern tier of New York. It offers a comprehensive experience with golf, swimming, and fine dining. CVCC features an 18-hole championship golf course, originally designed by Donald Ross. The course yardage ranges from 5,500 yards from the red tees to over 6,600 yards from the blue tees. Additionally, you can enhance your skills at our 300-yard practice range, which includes over 70 yards of teeing area.
Experience Required
Knowledge, Skills and Traits:

Essential Responsibilities
Position Concept: As a member of the Golf Management Team the Head Golf Professional has the responsibility for the overall management of the golf operation while working cooperatively with other departments.

The Position is responsible for supervision of the following:
Specific Responsibilities - include but are not limited to the following:
Essential Responsibilities:
- The Head Golf Professional must be in attendance Tuesday through Sunday during the golf season. There are a few Mondays on which the club hosts an outside tournament, the Pro is also expected to be in attendance on those days. The golf season is defined as the week of April 1st, and to be present through the week of October 31st. Vacation and Tournament Play provisions permitted with approval of the Board of Directors.
Golf Operations Management:
- Oversee the reservation system, starting, monitoring, and pace of play
- Track and verify all players and guests, green fees, golf cars, club care, lockers, handicap fees, and other charges necessary, and facilitate accurate accounting and recordkeeping
- Oversee golf car fleet while ensuring proper maintenance and recordkeeping
- Manage an innovative tournament program, group outings, and leagues that service all customer segments
- Oversee the operations of a well-managed practice facility
- Provide professional club repair and club fitting services
- Ensure the proper storage, safety, and cleaning of golf equipment
- Play golf with a variety of members and/or guests as time permits
- Administer the Rules of Golf and educate staff.
- Develop, maintain, update, and utilize customer database
Retail Management:
- Oversee retail merchandise concession. Golf Professional owns 100% of the Pro-Shop merchandise
Player Development:
- Develop, provide, and oversee an enhanced golf instruction program offering individual and group clinics for all levels.
- Develop and oversee player development programs
- Utilize PGA of America player development tools, resources, and materials
- Focus on programs for women, families, seniors, and juniors
- Utilize the resources of PGA programs such as Get Golf Ready, PGA Sports Academy, and others
- Assist with the training of the full facility staff in regard to player development and encourage their participation
- Work with employer to develop Player Development marketing
Golf Administration:
- Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and supervise all golf department staff and maintain accurate payroll records
- Ensure evaluations and annual reviews are completed and recorded for all applicable staff
- Attend staff meetings as scheduled by management and schedule staff meetings with golf operations personnel
- Update and maintain golf shop policies and procedures and job descriptions and ensure they are adhered to and posted in the proper areas
- Maintain safety standards and safety equipment within OSHA requirements
- Assist in the publications of newsletters, informational, and promotional materials
- Oversee the administration of the golf handicap program
- Work closely with and provide guidance and consultation with all golf committees
- Attend applicable committee meetings and board, management, and staff meetings when requested
- Adhere to, enforce, and implement policies and procedures of the facility
- Setup regular written communication with supervisor to include facility, programming, staff and customer updates
Business and Financial:
- Responsible for the financial and operational performance of the golf shop operations and golf services
- Ensure all financial goals and objectives are being achieved
- Assist in the development and preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of all golf operations revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis
- Ensure systems controls are in place to safeguard assets, revenues, and resources
- In keeping with facility goals, utilize yield management techniques to maximize course usage
Other Facility/Departmental Responsibilities:
- Work closely with all department heads to achieve the goals and objectives of the facility
- Maintain a close working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent and provide advice on course playability and tournament set up
- Assist the Board of Directors with the promotion of new member leads and provide a supporting role in assisting with prospective members and orientation of new members
- Coordinate plans with the Food and Beverage Manager for food and beverage needs for all golf functions
Benefits
- The Head Golf Professional is entitled to vacation with pay annually. This vacation does not include time that the Director of Golf plays in tournaments or attends classes for required PGA certifications. The Director of Golf will coordinate time away from his duties with the Golf Committee or the Club President. Leaves of absence are available after prior approval by the Club President.
- The Director of Golf is eligible for Employer-paid (CVCC) medical coverage for the entire family under the Group plan currently in effect for the other employees at CVCC. This plan is effective all year.
- The Head Professional shall be entitled to a food allowance at the clubhouse of Employer up to the sum of $1,000 per year beginning April 1st and ending on October 31st. This allowance does not include any bar charges.
Employer agrees to reimburse the Head Professional for PGA membership and PA Pesticide fees ( if applicable) , not to exceed $500 per year.
