Description
OverviewParkersburg Country Club is accepting resumes for a positive, outgoing, energetic and team oriented individual seeking a Head Golf Professional position at one of the oldest private country clubs in the state of West Virginia. This individual will develop and lead his/her staff to deliver exceptional golf expereicnes to Club members and guests. The successful individual will be direct all areas of the golf operations including tournament operations, merchandising, inventory management, lessons and clinics, junior programs, outings and outside golf operations.
The Club recently developed a long-term plan for golf course imporvements and is considering other projects within the clubhouse and Club property to enhance the member experience.
Experience Required
The successful individual will have their PGA certification with at least 7 years of progessive experience in all facets of golf operations.
Essential Responsibilities
Manage all golf and golf related activities and business including: golf shop operations, range and short game area, simulator, supervising professional, shop and cart staff, enforcing Club rules and regulations as they pertain to the golf operations, pace of play and rules of golf, oversee the Club's handicap system, provide competent golf instruction for all levels of players, supervise rental and maintenance of golf carts, provide reports and feedback to the appropriate management staff and Golf Committee.

- Patience in coaching and teaching golf to varied levels of talent
- Development of programs for juniors, ladies and men to grow the game of golf
III. Job Tasks (Duties)
- Plans, promotes and directs all golf activities including daily management responsibilities
- Prepares annual and monthly budgets for golf operations; takes corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained
- Evaluates, selects and orders merchandise for golf shop and provides best possible selection possible while managing for seasonality of business
- Orders supplies associated with golf activities
- Performs monthly inventory, providing report to Club Controller for financial reporting
- Maintains attractive, orderly appearance in golf shop
- Selects, supervises, trains and evaluates assistant professionals, shop attendants and cart attendants and other golf operation related personnel
- Provides, develops and coordinates golf lessons, clinics and instruction to members and guests
- Designs and conducts golf clinics
- Designs and conducts junior golf clinics and training programs
- Plays golf with members of all skill level to encourage growth in golf
- Plans professional development and training activities for subordinates
- Collects charges and fees for all golf related activities
- Organizes and conducts club tournaments and related events
- Interprets and enforces rules and regulations of golf
- Interprets and enforces club policies, rules and regulations related to the golf area
- Consults with General Manager and Golf Course Superintendent about golf course and golf related areas maintenance and rules that may affect playability
- Manages starting of play to assure accurate recording of players and set expectations for pace of play
- Manages handicap system, providing feedback and reports to Golf and Handicap Committees
- Represents the Club in area professional events, meetings and activities including local, state and national events
- Attends appropriate management, committee, membership and other applicable meetings
- Maintains record relating to player and guest rounds and other statistics
- Adheres to all federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety and employment
- Schedules staff hours to assure that members are fully served and that labor costs are maintained; periodically checks timecards for adherence to posted schedules
- Interacts with Event Manager and/or Food Service Manager to coordinate food and beverage needs for events
- Maintains visible presence on the course during peak times of play
- Supervises the work of Assistant Golf Professionals
- Manages and encourages professional development of Assistant Golf Professionals
- Manages new golf member orientation program
- Provides golf related information for Club communications
- Performs other appropriate tasks as assigned by the General Manager
