Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Electronic Resources Specialist shares responsibility for the acquisition, administration, and maintenance of the Libraries' electronic and continuing resources, as well as the continuity of access and discoverability of the Libraries' licensed and open access resources. This position is a member of the Collections Department and reports to the Electronic & Continuing Resources Librarian. Working both independently and collaboratively, this position utilizes technical expertise in the systems used to acquire and provide access to library resources and functional expertise in the information marketplace and e-resource life cycle.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Familiarity with library service platforms, e-resource access and discovery systems, and other systems and tools related to library technical services
- Knowledge of issues and trends concerning electronic resource management or other relevant acquisitions and collections areas
- Ability to extract and manipulate data to create reports and data visualizations
- Knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Outlook and Excel
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently to establish priorities and accomplish goals
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to perform tasks accurately with close attention to detail in a timely manner
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing organizational priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative in formulating creative solutions to workflow issues.

Electronic Resource Management
- Apply technical and functional expertise to administer and maintain licensed and open-access e-resources.
- Establish, review, and track access to e-resources across multiple library systems; maintain records of access and perpetual rights.
- Test and troubleshoot resource access in public-facing discovery systems.
- Manage administrative accounts and settings for e-resource platforms and service provider systems; generate and store system reports.
Acquisitions and Licensing
• Coordinate subscription lifecycle, including establishing, renewing, and canceling orders with vendors.
• Create and maintain subscription and order records in library and vendor systems.
• Assist with administration and interpretation of licenses and purchase agreements.
• Review and process invoices; monitor payments, renewals, and cost changes.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in orders, invoices, and access entitlements across systems.

Collaboration and Customer Service
• Communicate and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to implement acquisitions and collections decisions.
• Provide technical expertise and timely assistance for e-resource and continuing resource issues.
• Respond to and resolve access and discovery problems using advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Contribute to the design and maintenance of departmental workflows and documentation.

• Participate in meetings, workflow coordination, and strategic planning.
• Develop and refine processes for daily operations and long-term projects.
• Create documentation and support cross-training initiatives.
• Maintain active communication through library channels
