Director of Music Ministries
The Director of Music Ministries will lead, grow and nurture the church's music programs, maintaining a strong foundation in traditional sacred music while exploring and offering growth and diversity with other worship music styles. This role will supervise worship music staff, choir leaders, individual music contributors, and guest musicians, as well as foster music as a meaningful part of the church's mission. The Director will work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers to enhance worship and create vibrant experiences that inspire the congregation and community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and lead or oversee music for worship services, including directing choirs, bells, accompanists, and other musical groups and contributors.
- Supervise paid and volunteer music staff, including choir members, accompanists, and directors, ensuring consistent and high-quality music leadership.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Pastor and Worship Team to plan meaningful and appropriate music for worship.
- Recruit, train, and motivate volunteer musicians of all ages, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Coordinate performance and rehearsal schedules for all music groups throughout the church year.
- Maintain and organize the church's music library, schedule regular care and tuning of musical instruments, and manage pertinent music licensing agreements.
- Manage the music ministry budget effectively and provide input for annual planning.
- Serve as the organist, pianist, or keyboard accompanist for worship services, rehearsals, and special events if needed.
Future Program Development:
- Create, grow and nurture children’s and youth’s music programs.
- Develop and foster partnerships with other musicians and community organizations to bring meaningful coordinated music offerings to the congregation.
- Organize and oversee music-related events for community outreach.

Requirements
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music or related field (Master’s Degree a plus)
- Experience directing choirs and other musical groups, with a proven ability to recruit and motivate volunteer musicians.
- Prior music leadership experience in a church setting.
- Strong knowledge of sacred music literature, with an understanding of traditional Methodist church music.
- Proficiency in playing the piano.
- Appreciation for worship in the United Methodist tradition, with openness to diverse worship music styles
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, budgets, and music resources.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to accept and offer constructive feedback.
- A heart for ministry and a desire to inspire worship through music.
